Description: Browns is a special restaurant which quite fittingly sits at the heart of the resort. Named after Max Brown, who became legendary at The Mere for his magnetic charm, endless enthusiasm and innate passion for exemplary service, his spirit is echoed in our passion for food and guest experience. A destination restaurant with a simple philosophy, "Nature to plate", the prime focus is on using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, simply prepared, without all the fuss but presented in a refined way where the flavours of the dish are instantly recognisable. Our commitment to using local suppliers is of paramount importance to us. At Browns the food does the talking.

“Nice restaurant for a hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

We ate in Browns as part of our package at the Mere. Food was well cooked, portions of a good size and well presented. The ambience for a hotel restaurant was nice with a piano player. If we weren't booked elsewhere for our second night I would have eaten here again. Service was also attentive.

Dined here as part of a two night Dinner B&B mid-week break.
Food quality and service was excellent with a good choice from the menu that satisfied us for two nights.

“Possibly the worst food you can pay for”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

I do not understand how thi srestaurant still has clients that fill it up on the weekend. If you are staying at the hotel you might choose it for the convinience but I would not- not any more anyway.
the food is bland, has no taste, often served late and cold and when it is obvious you were unable to eat it and the whole thing is still on your plate the waiter or the manager are not a bit bothered to ask why? They are not interested whether you liekd it or not as long as you pay for it I suppose.
Regarding the deserts, having tried on more than one occasion, I can say I never had deserts that tasted like nothing. You would think the deserts were specially made for diabetics or weight wathers.
I would not recommend this restaurant in a million years. It is a shame though as the hotel is really nice.
