“Very good for the money”
Reviewed January 20, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stopped at the Sawn to have a meal, I had the smothered chicken my husband had the gammon, there was more than enough to eat - could not fault it, great food, great price and very friendly staff would definitely go back.

“Great Value Breakfast”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

On the way to Manchester this morning, we decided to pop into The Swan for breakfast. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who directed us to a table by the window. Cereal, fruit, joghurt, croissants (which could be warmed if you asked), toast etc were on a 'help yourself' buffet table, as was the tea and coffee. We decided on the Premier Breakfast, and were asked how many eggs, bacon, sausage etc we wanted! In the end we decided on two poached eggs (beautifully cooked), two bacon, sausage, hash brown, mushrooms, tomato and baked beans. All freshly cooked and tasting wonderful.

The toast machine is the usual one you find in hotels, so you need to put the bread through two or three times to get it brown - no hardship though.

Just make your own tea in the little pots, a nice touch. You get two large cups out of this, but can go back to make more if you want.

The staff were attentive at all times, and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely have breakfast here again.

“50th birthday meal”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Having used this Brewers Fayre before thought it would be ideal for a meal with another couple No problems with the meal and service we finished eating about 10.20 p.m. and decided to move into the bar for coffee and a round of drinks while we had a chat, we had just nicely sat down when the barman/duty manager came over and asked us if we would like anymore drinks as he wanted to shut the bar it was only 10.30 p.m. not only was he a bit abrupt no explanation was given I mean last orders on a Saturday night at 10.30 fair enough the bar was quiet but having worked in the bar/hotel trade for a number of years the service and his attitude stank If you like a early night visit if not wouldn't recommend and won't be using again at least not for a while

“Welcome back”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

My family and I stay at the adjacent Premier Inn both to and from our visits to Hants twice a year and always have our meals here. Recently the young restaurant manager greets us with "Welcome back" which is very much appreciated after a long drive. Meals are reasonably priced especially the breakfast which at just under £6.00 is excellent value. The atmosphere in the restaurant is good no doubt in part due to the friendly and attentive young staff.

“Great service but mediocre food”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

The place makes a handy pit stop on the way to Manchester (after the M6). The staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was just so-so though.
