“Lovely 2 night stay”
Reviewed May 10, 2012

Just returned from a lovely 2 night stay at The Mere. We had a mere double which overlooked the golf course and lake, and was of a generous size, very useful for accommodating our travel cot. Room spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. My husband was particularly pleased the TV had sky sports! I was pleased that the tea making facilities included fresh milk not uht!

We ate in Browns on the first night, and in the Mere Club Bar on the second; we actually preferred the food and less formal dining in the bar but that may be due to having our 18month old son with us, Browns was just a tiny bit too quiet.

Breakfast was very nice and we were really looked after by one of the waitresses. All the staff were v.helpful and friendly and polite.

Pool was lovely as were the steam, sauna, salt room, hydro pool etc etc. Time for children is restricted to 4-6pm which is fine but it did mean we had to plan our days around this, and in our case our son was a little bit too tired for the swimming experience that late on in the day.

Would definitely return, especially as its so close to Tatton Park which is a wonderful family day out.

Just returned form a 1 night stay at this hotel i booked it as a special treat for my partners 40th birthday (which i did mention when booking, and was told they would make a note), I also sent an email the night before to see if maybe we could have a complimentary upgrade!!,
Anyway we arrive yesterday and was met by a pleasant lady on check in, i asked if they had received my email she said no, i explained it was a special occasion and could we maybe have an upgrade, she said yes for an extra £25, the hotel was reasonably quiet. I politely declinded as we were on a budget.
The rooms are beautiful lovely comfy bed, but not impressed with the pillows, bathrooms lovely with underfloor heating, we were over looking the car park which wasnt great, would have loved to have overlooked the lake.
The food in Browns was delicious all 3 courses,( I had the pork which i never normally eat, but it was divine).
The breakfast was also lovely,(no beans though on the full breakfast menu) but i must say the white teapot i had was really badly stained, i asked for another and this was the same ,and also the table bases were very dusty and dirty which shocked me as its so beautiful in the restaurant. they did seem a bit short staffed.
I had booked in for spa treatments which was very good(she found every knot in my shoulders) but the relaxing area was full and the all the loungers were took in the pool area, so i would probably go on a quieter day next time.

Just returned from a weekend golf and spa break at The Mere. Had a very relaxing time in the spa, I had a full body massage which was excellent and the beds in the relaxation room are fab !! My husband had a very enjoyable game of golf and he loved the facilities in the pool area !! Had our evening meal in Browns restaurant, the food was gorgeous and presented very well !! Rooms were furnished to a good standard and most important very clean ! So all in all a very nice weekend at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Mere room overlooking the lake, very nice !!

We have just spent a very relaxing bank holiday weekend at the Mere. From the moment we checked in until we left, the staff in every area made sure we were well looked after. Our room was a mere double, which overlooked the lake and putting green and was what I would describe as decent sized, compared to a lot of hotels. We used the excellent spa facilities each day, ate and drank in both the club lounge and Browns restaurant and can't fault any of it (didnt use the golf facilities apart from the bar). Even though the hotel was very busy with functions every night it did not seem crowded and the noise was well contained in both public areas and the bedrooms. Overall a great experience, we would not hesitate to go back.

We booked this hotel for a 1 night spa day. We had a room on the ground floor and it was stunning. The bathroom was spotless and everything was where it should be and worked perfectly.
The drinks are a little on the expeensive side but you expect that from this type of hotel. the food was lovely though.

the spa was fabulous. We had the mud treatment which was good fun. Not quite what we expected but it was a giggle anyway.

I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Myself and my husband booked this break at the last minute as a treat for my birthday, we had not checked any reviews etc, and on arrival we were immediately extremely impressed at how gorgeous the whole ambiance and presentation was, there was even a pianist playing the grand piano! The staff were very attentive and incredibly friendly and efficient from the doormen to the receptionist, who actually checked us in and took us personally to our most fabulous and spacious mere view room with a balcony. The whole place was fitted out and decorated to a very high standard and very stylish and modern, yet it retained it's old historic features of the old building. The room was very comfortable and there was even some wine on arrival in the room, the TV in the room was the latest high definition technology, it was all most pleasant indeed. We used the spa and facilities which were of the highest standard and the pool etc was amazing. We had dinner in Browns on the first night and could not believe how attentive and friendly the staff were, the food was fabulous as were the beautiful colour schemes and furniture in the bar especially with sumptuous velvet everywhere. We had lunch at the club bar which was equally as fabulous, with views over the mere. We had a short walk in the grounds by the mere which were immaculate and there was plenty of high quality outside furniture in which to enjoy a drink with the lovely view.

Overall I would say this place is excellent in every way, and we will definitely be back, and that is saying something, because I am a perfectionist and very hard to please!

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading to mere view room
