“Brilliant Hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

We stayed one night in this hotel with our 2 small children. The room was plenty big enough for all of us and very clean. The pool includes a children's splash pool, which our children loved. The breakfast the next day was very tasty. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They even offer complimentery cookies and milk to the children in the evening (my 2 loved this!) The hotel is in a very nice location in Knutsford which was close enough for us to go to Chester Zoo from there. I'd recommend this hotel to any family!

Room Tip: For families with small children, ask for a room near to the pool...it helped to be able to get out...

I stayed here while on a business vsiit to the nearby Jodrell Bank telescope. The hotel is very nice, and has a kind of English calmness about it. The rooms, while not large, are perfectly fine for a couple, comfortable, clean and well appointed. My room didn't have much natural light as it faced inwards to the hotel, but not a problem as you don't spend much time in the room. the reception and public areas of the hotel are relaxing and spacious. I didn't use the restaurant for dinner, but the breakfasts were sumptious - I liked having my hot breakfast actually served at the bain-marie, and not having to grapple one-handed with lids! I found the staff friendly and efficient - and my favourite beer was on tap - Bombadiers (bitter). The car park is right outside the reception. of course, the spa makes Cottons feel like you're on holiday, even on a biz trip.
You really need a car for this hotel, as it is some way from the airport, and almost 2 miles from the lovely village of Knutsford - too far for a stroll really. Anyway, there is great scenery and walking in the region that should explore - the Peak District, and local country lanes, villages and canal pathways. Tatton Park estate is almost next door, with deer in the grounds.

Room Tip: Ask for an outward facing room, so you get a view of the countryside (but maybe you'll hear the...

It was our pleasure to have you stay with us recently and I am delighted that you enjoyed the famous Shire breakfast and that you found the hotel very comfortable and the staff efficient.

I am also pleased that you were able to take advantage of the surrounding countryside as Cottons location is ideal for leisure and/or business guests, with all the benefits of a 4 star Spa Hotel, free parking and minutes from the M6 and M56.

Thank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback with everyone, we really appreciate it.

In style a bit pretentious as "country inn", but I was disappointed on a 2-night business trip by the combination of its relatively great distance from Manchester (especially in rush hour traffic) combined nevertheless with its location more or less directly in line with the Manchester airport runways, which means noise from lots of departing aircraft starting at 6 a.m. The rooms in general are not at all well insulated against outside noise or against noise from neighbouring rooms and the hallways. Breakfast was very much English style, focused on bacon, sausages, eggs, a few slices of toast okay, but no choice at all in other bread or rolls, meas & cheeses, toppings, salads, etc. Service was friendly, however.

We like to think that our location gives you the best of both worlds - all the benefits of being in a 4 star Spa hotel with ample free parking and away from the congestion of city life. We're just minutes from the M6 and M56, and a short drive from Manchester Airport. Admittedly Manchester City Centre, especially at rush house, can seem a long drive.

With regards to noise insulation - I acknowledge your comments which I have to say, are quite rare given all the bedrooms are well insulated and our double glazing, combined with air-conditioning means the bedrooms can be kept cool and quiet if the windows are shut.

Our breakfast offering does change with the seasons and although has many traditional dishes, I will take on board your comments to include more continental-style dishes when we next review the content.

May I thank you for your constructive comments and pleased that you enjoyed our friendly service.

This particular area does not have many choices for hotels. So with that in mind, you do have to adjust your expectations. This is a clean hotel, with a very nice bar area, a decent restaurant, and a nice sitting area with fireplace to meet friends. The hotel needs a bit of refreshing, it's starting to get a bit tired. This is most evident in the rooms, where a some updating is very necessary. The rooms can be classified as functional, but not memorable. King bed is actually two twins put together with a rather hard middle where the two join. Smallish TV with very few channels to watch, but it all worked. Not many amenities given in the bathroom, but overall it was clean and functional (one positive, there is a hair blowdryer in the room; associated negative, it was pretty useless). Staff are friendly, and service was good from my limited interaction. The best summary, it's an ok hotel, clean and functional. However, at the time of this review, there are 2 Premier Inn chain hotels rated higher in the area; guess that sort of says it all.

I was pleased that you found the hotel clean, staff friendly and that you enjoyed our Restaurant, Bar and Lounge offering.

With regards to your bedroom, we are normally recognised for our attention to detail with quality linen and toiletries, fresh coffee and complimentary bottled water but I apologise for not meeting your expectations on your recent stay. I will ask my Housekeeping Department to be extra vigilant with room inspections and ensure any decorating repairs are addressed immediately.

I booked this hotel for 16 of us from our Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels for two nights.
They provided accommodation for us exactly as asked. We dined in the Colonial Private dining room where we were looked after by Lynne and her staff who were attentive, pleasant and efficient. The food was brilliant, no complaints really. This is a well organised hotel and worth a visit. The Spa and swimming pool is really well done and a pleasure to use. Breakfast was equally brilliant, one of the best in the UK. Value for money this place takes some beating. Jonathan the events co ordinator was a pleasure to deal with. We can really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are nearer to reception if you are disabled. The other rooms can be a bit of a tr...
