“Unforgettable day”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Last December, my husband and I went to Chester from London to attend the Christmas party that were organised by my work team. One of our friends recommended us to go the previous day and stay at Moss Farm, visit Chester and the area. Following her advice, we went the day before and met Rachel who welcomed us to her wonderful B&B. We stayed in the Rose room which couldn't be more lovely. The room was gorgeus. Every single detail in the bathroom. Everything was fantastic, specially the "home" touch which I think that was the most pleasant thing.
After a very relax bath (after a long-long week) Rachel recommended us several places for dinner and one in particular: "The three Greyhounds Inn". She was right. We had a great dinner, even better beer and apple crumble, and then we went to our warm room to sleep.
As the Moss farm is in the middle of the country, all the noises we heard were birds and the wind. Probably the best came the next morning when we had Rachel's English Breakfast. Probably on of th best we've ever had (and my huusband is an expert!). All was home made and grown in the farm.
Afterwards we went to visit some places in Chester that Rachael recommend us. Again, all good moves.
Now is March and after 2 years living in London and visited many places, we are moving again back to Spain. I didn't want to leave without recommending this place. You can't be wrong selecting this place if you want to visit the area with your family or your husband/wife. I hope we could come back soon and remember such good memories.
Thank you Rachael. Lovely to meet you :-)

Arrived at Moss Farm on a cold January evening with snow on the ground. Received a very warm welcome from Rachel who showed us to our spaceous "Pink Bedroom" with great views. Enjoyed a very comfortable stay in a quiet location. One or two minor repairs require attention in the bathroom ie bath panel, ceiling and cupboard light. Breakfast was of a high standard.
The purpose of our visit was to undertake family research in the area and Rachel went out of her way to assist. Would certainly stay again.

We had a really lovely overnight stay at Moss Farm. Great location for Knutsford, Manchester, Chester and surrounding places. Our room was beautifully decorated, very spacious, well equipped (lots of storage, tea/coffee making facilities, fresh milk and yummy biscuits!) and had great views across the countryside. Bathroom was again spacious and sparkling clean, with piles of fluffy white towels next to a huge bath. Rachel was very welcoming on our arrival, there was even an open fire burning in the guest lounge, which was a very cheery bonus on a snowy cold afternoon. After a cosy and restful nights sleep we then awoke to fantastic full English breakfast, with locally sourced ingredients, fresh tea and coffee, and home-made jam and toast. Can't think of how it could have been improved upon, just wish we could have stayed a second night...

We had a lovely stay at Moss Farm which began with arrival in the dark and rain. We were greeted by the hosts with raincoats & torches to help unload the car. Such a warm welcome and so very helpful in getting all the suitcases inside the house while being battered by such weather.
The rooms were 'roomy' and light, meticulously clean and with plenty of storage. The period furniture adds to the homely feel and we felt very relaxed and 'at home' in our room.
The second part of bed & breakfast is of course the food which was very good indeed. Plenty of choice from the self-serve cereals and a superb menu of cooked food, enough to try something different each day of the week. We have already recommended Moss Farm to a friend.

Reading the other visitors' glowing reviews, I thought I'd finally found a truly excellent place to stay when visiting the in-laws but it's not quite as fantastic as billed. I think Rachel is lovely and she provided a superb breakfast, which was much appreciated. We stayed in the Rose Room, a large, dual-aspect room with period furniture. Unfortunately, the bed proved too short for my husband, who's 6' tall, so he had a rather cramped night. When I drew the curtains, they flew across the rail, unattached at the outer ends. Although there was a portable, light-up mirror provided, it was placed on top of a tall chest of drawers, so presumably one is expected to make up while standing up. There was a dressing-table in the bathroom but no chair so we took one in there for the purpose. The bathroom itself was lit like an operating theatre and although under the complimentary bath products an embroidered cushion urged us to 'Relax', it was unlikely under such uncompromising conditions. The sealant joining the bath to the wall had not been done properly and there were gaping areas. Similarly, there were loose tiles on a shelf above the toilet, I assume to provide access to the cistern but it didn't look good. We found an unattached electrical wire in the bathroom cupboard, and the lights above it didn't work. All in all we were unimpressed with the finish, which wouldn't take much work to rectify but lend a half-done look to the room. It was £75 for one night, which seemed far too expensive under the circumstances, and at that price one can be forgiven for having fairly high expectations. Finally, although Moss Farm is out in the countryside and wonderfully quiet, they have dogs and we were woken twice in the small hours by barking. It's all a shame really, because Rachel was so welcoming and we wanted to like the place but we won't be returning, I'm afraid.

Exquisite rooms, wonderful hospitality and an idillic rural location Moss Farm is the perfect destination if your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

There is plenty of entertainment within walking distance of the farm and, with Chester a short train ride away, if shopping is your cup of tea there is that there for you too.

All in all its the perfect spot if your looking to unwind and relax.

This is a lovely place to stay. The room was large and well furnished but more importantly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. The hosts were really attentive to our needs and I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Good pubs with food can be found nearby (the golden pheasant is a pleasant walk away and has a restaurant). We were just looking for somewhere quiet to cycle from and for this it was perfect but access to Manchester, Warrington, Knutsford and Northwich is good. It is also good for Manchester airport although the planes didn't bother us.
