“Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night after a wedding next door at La Belle Epoque. We arrived earlier than the 2pm check in but they were happy to check us in straight away. VEry friendly and helpful member of staff. We travelled with friends who were staying at a hotel near by but were allowed to park their car at the hotel which we thought was very kind of them.
We didn't stay fir dinner as we were eatring at the wedding but popped back around 6/7 to change my shoes and people were queing to get in to the restaurant, it certainly looked very good!
Our room was an Ok size, perfect for just the one night. A little warm and the window didn't want to stayt open for too long (old sash window) but it cooled down later. Obviously been updated and everything was clean and fresh, bath and hand towel each and shower gel/shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Had a shower over the bath which did seem a little tired but everything was clean.
Had a great nights sleep with the only thing to disturb me being my other half coming back a little worse for wear at around 2am! Reception were great though and let him in as I had the key!
Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, a very good full English. I was offerd tea/coffee as soon as I came down, selection of juice and cereals was available for you to help yourself. It took a little while for food and there seemed to be just one girl serving buty she did really well. It was definitely worth waiting for though.
Over all, a great hotel for a couple of nights in Knutsford, especially if you are attending anything next door, staggering disatnce! We stayed in room Number 7. Stayed 19th October 2013.

Room Tip: A roo at the back of the hotel as the front over looks a main road.

My partner and I were travelling to Scotland and rather stupidly didnt book a hotel halfway, we though as we were travelling mid week we would be ok...... eventually we found this place. Fantastic! A tardis set above a gorgeous old pub in Knutsford. The rooms are small but ideal if you are not planning on spending much time there.

The staff are fabulous and could not have been more helpful. The breakfast was good too!

The only thing I would say is we could have done with a phone in the room. We were on the top floor and really wanted a drink so could have done with room service!

Would not hesitate to go back!

We stayed at the Rose and Crown on a Thursday evening as we were attending a wedding next door.
Our room was comfortable yet basic. The sink in the bathroom could have done with a bit of a clean, the bathroom door was badly stained and needed painting and the towels had more than one hair on them.
As there were Venetian blinds at the window and no curtains we were woken by the daylight and having slept so badly (thin walls, you can hear everything), we could have done with some more sleep.
The tea and coffee facilities in the room were poor for a £95 per night room - you get some regular tea bags, coffee, sugar and 4 UHT milk pots. Herbal tea and some biscuits wouldn't have hurt. And more milk,
The breakfast was poor. A selection of 3 juices and 4 types of cereal were on offer and then a breakfast menu where you could have either cooked or continental. You couldn't have both. I have fried egg, hash brown, mushroom and toast. As I am veggie and can't eat tomato, I would have expected extra, not just one egg, one mushroom... Also egg was requested well cooked. It wasn't. we also wanted an egg and sausage roll. we got eggs Benedict, It has been so slow we just had it, we didn't want to wait for what we actually ordered. The food was cold and the toast was burnt. We had to ask for butter.
£95 for a room is really far too much for what you get. I would suggest they charge £55 or seriously improve!

Sadly we were disappointed by our experience of a recent stay Bank Holiday Sunday night after a wedding next door at the Belle Epoque. Not being from the area we were not aware of the proximity of the planes and flight path until we arrived, then you couldn't forget it, they fly until around midnight and start again at 6 a.m.? Our room No 1 overlooked the decking area at the back and so there was noise until late which was OK, but to have left a tea tray with one cup with no handle and to have painted the bathroom door so thickly it wouldn't close to the extent they have removed the sneck I expect so people don't get stuck in there, is unforgivable. At £95 a night it was overpriced, although the breakfast was very good, shame they didn't put more staff on though, one guy on his own did a very good job but was pushed.

Room Tip: Don't book room 1, others in party said rooms at front just as noisy at night and deliveries fir...

Stayed two nights here as attending a wedding at La Belle Epoque next door. The bedrooms have been refurbished and are generally okay. We arrived with our two adult daughters at 9.30 p.m. and were given 2 rooms at the front. Unfortunately the windows in our room didn't close and we eventually gave up trying to sleep at 6 a.m! To be fair we were given alternative rooms at the back of the hotel for the second night. It's a narrow main road outside the hotel and has lots of traffic very early in the morning.
After we were shown to our rooms we went downstairs to the bar for a drink. However it was music night and the bar area was full. An area to the side had several tables without anything on but when we went to sit down, the Manager came dashing over to say - in a loud voice - that this area was reserved for dining and we couldn't sit there. This meant that although we were residents (and paying nearly £100 per room) we had to walk down the road to another pub for a drink! If you're having cooked breakfast then you're probably okay but anyone having a continental breakfast should beware. The service is extremely slow, the fruit platter was basically a slice(!) of apple, 2" square of melon, 2 tiny strawberries and 8 grapes for £6.50. The pastry basket which was supposed to comprise croissant, pain au raisin, pain au chocolate etc actually turned out to be one large croissant. Preserves had to be requested. My daughters were given burnt brown toast with a large hair the first morning and burnt brown toast the second morning. When we asked the second morning at 8.00 a.m. if we could have white toast we were told they didn't have any left!

The Manager was nowhere to be seen when making a complaint and didn't answer his phone when staff tried to ring him. We also witnessed this with another customer. All in all very poor customer service. Probably a good place to have dinner but would avoid it for an overnight stay. Very disappointed.

On what should have been a difficult occasion (funeral) we found the rose and crown to be amazing and catered for all our party wonderfully. We booked rooms for family who had travelled and everything was excellent. Attentive staff, wonderful food and excellent service. I cannot praise the restaurant, bar and admin staff highly enough. The rooms were also excellent, lovely bedding and fluffy towels! Oh and brekkie was gorge. Thanks xxxx

Stayed with partner on a Saturday night. Staff from start to finish were attentive and accommodating. Room and bathroom were spacious. Bed very comfy and lovely fluffy towels. Overlooked terrace but no problem with noise, considering it was very busy. Desk fan set up if one felt too warm.

Staff managed to squeeze us in for evening meal which was delicious, and surprisingly reasonable price, breakfast was full English cooked to order and juice/cereal help yourself

Wandered around Knutsford in evening and next day and left with impression of friendly, vibrant and interesting stay.

Would have no hesitation in staying again.
