My wife and I called in for lunch on Saturday 13th. We original chose Gusto but were told there was a ten minute wait despite the fact there were empty tables. I guess this is a ploy to get you to spend money at the bar first. So we moved on to Piccolino which we regretted. We ordered drinks fairly quickly and they seemed to take an age to arrive. We then ordered two main courses which arrived after about half an hour. I chose the risotto and was asked if I wanted the small or large and I chose the large. When it arrived it was pathetic in size and I would have been disappointed if it had been the small. A tiny portion of chips ordered by my wife cost £3.65 and a Magners and a Spritzer cost £9.90. Total bill for lunch was £34. I know this is Knutsford but still felt this this was poor value for money. We would be very unlikely to return despite being a fan of Piccolo's in Chester.

I last visited this place in June 2012 and not much has changed. Still the same overpriced food and drinks.

Service was not as brisk as expected for a mid afternoon visit. Although the food was reasonable good quality the overall bill for an after noon lunch for 3 was over £120.

The gents toilet is cramped and could do with a proper clean as it has the tells tales signs of a "quick flick and mop" around the toilet area as ingrained dirt is evidence in the corners.

Would I use this place to entertain clients, probably not!!

The bar area backs onto diners and table are very cramped.

This place is obviously resting on its laurels and because they have a fairly captive market do not try hard to impress.

report card should say "Could do better"

Arrived at the restaurant as a party of 3. We were seated at the back despite being abruptly told there were no tables at the front as we requested. Having traveled through the cloud of insects hovering in the bar area, we took our seats and experienced a stomach churning smell coming from the kitchens below. When asked about this management brushed off our query, not asking if we wished to seated away from the aroma. This was only the start of the horrendous service we received during our visit.
We received the bread and oil quickly, however at no point throughout the experience did any staff come to us unprompted to take orders for drinks or food. After being ignored for 10 minutes we had to grab a waiter to take our drinks order.
Food was received, the waiter asking which guest had which dish as we did not have any specific waiter attending the table. Once again we were left on our own, the staff did not ask if food was okay at any point. We eventually had to get up to speak to someone about ordering more drinks, which did not arrive until after we had finished our food! All this from a restaurant which was less than a quarter full.
Our jovial attitude which we had when we entered the restaurant had evaporated by the time we came to consider deserts (which we were not asked if we wanted).
After waiting a further 10 minutes (with our plates not cleared) we gave up trying to get attention from any off the staff loitering at the bar to up and leave.
When we went to pay, we were not asked how the experience was. We decided at this point to raise our concerns about how were treated to the manager. We were offered nothing to compensate for our bad experience.
When we left we were made to feel like we shouldn't have commented, as the manager was discussing our complaint with other local customers. No wonder the staff's service was lacking based upon the example set by the manager. The way he dealt with us was appalling, he couldn't be quick enough to take our money and get us out of the restaurant.

Extremely disappointing and angry about the price we paid for such a deflating experience, ruining was otherwise an enjoyable sunny Saturday afternoon.

We have used this restaurant since it opened in Knutsford and always found it great. Having left the area we only eat here when travelling nearby.
Our latest experience will make us think twice about visiting again, as although the food was as good as usual the service and lack of attention was deplorable.
a waiter took us to a table at the back and ther e were only two other tables occupied at the rear. He gave us menus and left... After ten minutes we waved a waiter to take the order. The drinks and olives and bread arrived fairly quickly but the mains had not arrived 25 minutes after the starter plates were removed. Trying to catch the eye of staff in this place is really hard. We managed to get a waiters attention and the mains were then brought The manager (I presume... as he wore a suit) never made eye contact at all during our visit. The music was so loud that we could not have a conversation...and again we tried to get the eye of a waiter to turn it down Eventually my partner left his meal and went to the bar to ask for the noise to be turned down. We finished our mains and checked the time and decided we would like coffees. After 17 minutes trying to attract the attention of any member of staff, we gave up and went to pay our bill.
My partner asked to pay and the waiter just did the transaction and he never asked if we had enjoyed the meal or if everything was ok.
We left, and my partner said it was the first time he ever remembers not giving a tip in a restaurant.
Several groups of people obviously known to the staff came into the restaurant after us and were seated at the front. The two senior staff seemed to spend most of our visit chatting with the people they knew and ignoring the few in the back. Unfortunate!

Went for Sunday brunch with friends and a toddler. Service was great and very family friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and the food was lovely. Would thoroughly recommend for a chillaxed start to a Sunday.
