We stayed here as a break of journey rather than as an all-weeker, but I still think it would be a lovely place to stay for longer!
The host and the location make the place. The owner, Di, is lovely and friendly - proper Scottish welcome. Tea, coffee, biscuits etc available in your room. All you need to do is ask when you'd like your brekkie, and if you ask, you'll get recommendations for local places to eat or visit. (There is information available downstairs too if you didn't bring your own guide books.) Lots to do.
Good breakfasts, well cooked, your choice of time and fresh ingredients. And yes the squirrels really are right outside your window, along with the local birds too. Our room was very spacious and bigger than most B&B's would have for two rooms, ensuite without us asking for it too, very comfortable. There are extra blankets etc available, and even some boardgames.)
To me, this was my second visit, and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We spent 3 nights at Murrayfield in a family room. The room was spacious and clean. There was coffee and tea facilities as well as a small refrigerator in the room.
We found the hostess to be not a only a good cook but also a good conversationalist. The breakfast was accommodating and a good start to great days. The estate is well hidden and secluded with beautiful gardens and fields of wheat.
This is a nice place to stay for easy day trips to the scottish countryside and historic places or just to relax and unwind. The red squirrels were there every day on our visit. So the only thing we missed was a place to sit outside the house.

This really is an excellent B&B and the owner (Di) is so friendly. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The room was lovely and beautifully decorated. Although I only stayed one night I would have liked to stay longer. The breakfast was gorgeous, all good quality ingredients, and I even saw a red squirrel while we were in the dining room! I would highly recommend staying here and certainly will stay again myself if I am in the area.

This is a lovely, unfussy, good place to stay. It is not the Hilton Hotel, no night service, no fuss, no pretensions - it is an older building, with thick walls, so not triple glazed nor as warm as a modern town house - so dress warmly for the season and bring a spare jumper in case you get cold in the evening! We were dressed for the outdoors, with wooly jumpers, so Everything was up to scratch: comfy beds, with spare bedding in case we were cold, a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day (we were out exploring/sight seeing and walking the hills by day), and everything clean. Better than many a complacent city guesthouse in my opinion.
A bonus was seeing red squirrels outside the breakfast room - not guaranteed, we were told, due to the stage of plantation growth, but a joy and privelege to see. We found plenty of sites to visit, which sadly includes the local cemetery where the Lockerbie plane crash dead are buried, but also including craft places to make things (good for children, but you may have to book so google and get in touch with them before you visit) . There are lots of walking routes, as with all of Scotland, and on journey back to England we dropped in at Gretna Green - this was very touristy as expected! Lockerbie is a longish walk - a taxi makes things easier, or take the car if someone is not drinking.

Lovely location and very peaceful. Thats the positives!
Lukewarm initial welcome and entered into a large damp smelling old house - despite the dehumidifiers on obvious view.
No generous offer of a pot of tea or even a piece of cake, shown a warm sitting room or anything else. Indeed we had to be specific about breakfast time because the hostess had 'other things to do!' as we were so duly informed.
Our room was absolutely freezing with poor heating from old radiators which came on briefly for half an hour. The bedding felt damp and the cobwebs hung from the corners of the room. The coldest night I have ever spent in a house where guest comfort and warmth of any kind had no obvious place.
Breakfast was lacking with hideous porridge, cold tea and toast and a miserly cooked breakfast. Do not use this B & B one of the worst experiences we have ever had
