My Partner and I stayed two nights whilst visiting friends and family. The first night we had a really fantastic meal of 5hr slow roast pork shoulder. The taste was superb, so much flavour. Thanks to Mark and Morag for making us so welcome.
Try the Venezalian Rum as well !!

We were taken to this hotel restaurant by family who we were visiting in the area, on "Easter Sunday" evening 31st March 2013 for a meal. The meal was excellent, and mine host "Mark" provided that extra special personal touch without being intrusive.
The young Lady who served us was also an asset to the establishment, in that she was very friendly, and extremely polite, a rare virtue nowadays.
"Marks" wife "Morag" was the person who cooked our meal, and let me add that it was absolutely perfect, so although we did not meet her, we thank you again, and we will definately be back.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this little jewel if you are in the vicinity of Dumfrieshire.
Good luck with your enterprise for the future.

Was lucky enough to find this gem on Tripadvisor and it had a room free for me on the same day. The reviews on here can't possibly do The Hightae the justice it deserves, Mark and Morag are excellent hosts, the place is spotless, the bed in my room was really comfortable and my evening meal was excellent too!
Definitely one I will return to when travellling to or from Scotland, just hope they will not be fully booked!

Room Tip: Only been once so far but I am sure all the rooms will be good

I selected this place primarily because it was in the vicinity I wanted to be in, and of course TripAdvisor reviews. It is truly marvelous. Clean and quiet, just the way I like it. You will not just stumble across this, but seek it out and be rewarded.

The best B&B I have ever stayed in with the warmest, genuine hosts, a lovely couple and great company. Morag even leant me her wellies! The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated with thoughtful touches. The food was lovely, home cooked, full of flavour and exquisitly cooked. I'm glad we came, what a treat!
