Visited on a Saturday evening with a Groupon voucher.
Now firstly, the A La Carte menu published on the website is DIFFERENT to what you are actually handed. TOTALLY disappointing and unacceptable in my view. There is less choice and the starter and main I had seen on the webby were not available on the menu i was given. I questioned the waiter who told me i was WRONG!! So i showed him..!
Anyways it didnt detract from actually eating there. The service was good if a little slow in part. The resturant was not busy, 3rd weekend in Jan of course.
We went for starters of a beetroot and goats cheese salad & a prawn cocktail which was disappointing. Fresh leaves ruined with cheap tiny frozen prawns. Both were well presented i must add.
Mains were a. (1) mixed grill which came with catering style frozen chips and presented as if it had been simply thrown on the plate. (2) A chicken supreme on a bed of black pudding mash, in a cream sauce. Also went for a side of steamed veg and a red wine sauce. The chicken was in fact, very good.
We had to remind them for the sauce and the server did not ask how we would like the steak on the mixed grill.
The food quality and overall presentation was ok. Not great, certainly not too impressive.
No room for dessert, took coffee in the bar area. That took an age, then a further age for the milk!
For some reason, the mens washrooms were out of service. No hand soap in the alternative and there was a water leak in the bar ceiling. In addition, some of the internal decor is now looking rather tired and in need of touch up. The resturant was also rather cold.
A poor to average overall dining experience. Certainly worth nothing more than a Groupon.
We wont be returning.
