Our visit to the Sparows Nest Gardens in Lowestoft gave the opportunity to pay homage and salute the Royal Naval Patrol Service, where the 2385 names officers and men are remembered close to the harbour, in 16 clusters,in alphabetical order, missing in action, with no known grave, save the sea.The Commonwealth Commission is responsible for this WW2 1939-46 unique monument.

Many of these heroic lost members of the Royal Naval Patrol Service- that successfully kept secure the English Channel and North Sea , were former Lowestoft trawler fishermen, who were encouraged and responded to the defence and freedom of the realm.

Brilliant place to visit, plenty of photos, and well researched history of the naval fleet from Lowestoft!!
We went to find my husbands grandfathers history as he had been on the minesweepers for the North Atlantic convoys.
Very helpful volunteers!!!!!!
Would be an excellent day out especially if it's a rainy day!!
It's situated in Sparrows nest park, so has plenty of things to do and coffee shops and restaurants

We travelled purposely to see if we could gather any info about my grandfather who served on a mine sweeper and was lost during the war
We found lots of items.of reference to him and his ship

Leo one of the trustee who helps at the museum opened up especially and his knowledge and help was 2nd to none a trip that was meant to be organised years ago was worth taking
If you have had any one serving on mine sweepers or are generally intrested in the navy this is a must see museum
