Booked a month before we travelled, looking for somewhere of good vaule, visited southwold in the day, accomm there is very expensive, came across Winelodge, photos looked good, booking excellent, refundable if needed within 24 hours of arrival. On arrival, very impressed, Excellent value for money, room nice and airy - mini fridge in room very handy, staff very friendly, good food and great value too, would easily book another trip.

Stayed for one night.. Lets start with the few small niggles.. Room was a bit on the small side and could have done with a dust but perhaps I'm being picky.. As usual it's the staff that make a hotel and all the staff we met were fantastic.. Especially the man on the bar in the evening who made us feel welcome and nothing was to much trouble.. To the lady that although we were a bit late coming down cooked us a very nice fresh breakfast.. For the money we paid and the service we received would recommend this hotel to anyone...

Good points: The staff-very friendly and helpful (even though he was receptionist, waiter and barman). The cooked breakfast included in the price.

Bad points: Everything else. The mould round the shower. The shower that wouldn't turn off. The shower facia that wouldn't fit. The cracked sink that had no plug. The wardrobe that was so narrow that a coat hanger wouldn't fit horizontally in it. The stains on the dressing table. The poor lighting. The tatty hotel guide. The old plastic seat. The dirt and dust balls under and around the bed. The dust round the headboard. The doube! bed. The night club outside!

Been to many many hotels for work and leisure but this is the worst I've stayed in.

Room Tip: I'd never go there again

We booked a two bed apartment on the seafront. Positive: Fantastic value for money, helpful staff, excellent location, good parking, plenty of hot water. Negative: A gale blows off the sea and windows are ill fitting so it was freezing (needs heavy curtains and decent heating), kitchen was not well enough equipped to cook a meal, although the important parts were clean, it was generally a bit grubby especially the bathroom. I would stay again because it did the job and we didn't spend much time there but I would hesitate to recommend it to friends as they may be disappointed. I'm sure it would be great in the summer.

Room Tip: Not a good option in the winter!

Impressed when allocated a large room - room 1. However, staff could not get access card to work so put me in room 8 which was tiny. There was a constant noise from outside which they said was kitchen extractor and would go off later in evening. Was woken at 05.00 when it started up again. Restricted breakfast - coffee OR tea OR juice. Pay £1 if you want an extra item. Hotel was booked by company do I so not know cost - but any decent B&B would be preferable. Parking in the street nearby.

Hotel staff were very nice and friendly but our room was not very clean, still after a fairly decent mealat the restaurant we were able to get a good nights sleep, breakfast was ok but didn't enjoy the sausage, would we stay here again! That would have to be yes.

We booked last minute and had a 2 night stay in the lodge. It was fantastic, breakfast included in the price. En suite bathroom, and a large luxurious room. The staff were brilliant and attentive.

The only down side was the 'free' Internet. We were downstairs and still got no signal. That said it was still good value for money at such short notice.
