Description: Beautiful traditional English pub/restaurant. Set in a quiet Village of Lound, placed directly opposite a large and beautiful duck pond. Quiet location but a pub with lots of character! We serve locally sourced produce and provide a good selection of wines, beers and spirits. The Village Maid was purchased by Moss & Co Trading ltd in January 2016 and underwent a huge renovation project. It opened again in March and we always recommend booking to avoid disappointment. T

“Good traditional pub fare with a friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

I used to regularly visit The Village Maid for family meals but hadn't been for a number of years, so was very pleased to learn that it is still going strong and still serves good pub fare.

Despite a large party having a meal in the pub we were shown to our table at the side of the bar by a friendly waitress and weren't inconvenienced at all by the large group. The menu offers a wide range, including some specials on the board; I opted for the brie wedges with cranberry to start, and home-made lasagne for main, which was very tasty. The salad may have been improved with some dressing, but other than that it was a very good meal and reasonably priced. Throughout the evening the service was good and friendly, but unobtrusive. There is also a good range of hand-pulled ales on tap; my partner and I both enjoyed a pint of Adnams Bitter.

If you are looking for somewhere fancy for a special occasion, or somewhere to really impress then this may not be the place to go, but for good honest traditional pub fare you can't go wrong with a trip to the Village Maid.

“AMAZING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

Me, my husband and 3 children visited here and had a great time lovely atmosphere, good service and amazing food! Everything was cooked perfectly. There was a good slection on the menu aswell as a few things on teh special board all very well priced. The children were given colouring without us needing to ask and there was a great selection for them to choose from. When ll the meals arrived we had lots on our plates great value for money, the children had loads! Deserts were so delicious and my husband enjoyed a good selection of drinks. Can't wait to visit again with friends and family would highly reccommend.
