“Sea Front Hotel”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

I Have stayed here on numerous occasions during business trips to Lowestoft.
Staff are always helpful and friendly, easy check in, even when arriving in small hours of the morning.
Double rooms are great, over looking the sea with lots of room. Single rooms are cramped and no views unless you like looking at the building next door!
Restaurant food is good, but can be quiet a wait for it.
Cooked breakfast always good, but could be more selection of cereal / fruits / yougurts etc.
Rooms always clean and well made up.

Room Tip: Rooms with low numbers ie 1 - 3 are near the lift and the door opening at all hours tends to be nois...

Gorgeous sea view. Comfortable room. I would have enjoyed the view better if the inside windows were cleaner. The bathroom is ok, except for the dust occasionally falling from the fan. The restaurant food was a nice treat, but the wait for dinner and breakfast were close to an hour.

I asked the Victoria to help me in organising a three day, very secret, family celebration for my wife's birthday. I was very specific about the requirement especially for the rooms and the evening meal and I'm sure that I must have been an absolute pain to deal with. Nicola, one of their delightful receptionists, handled the whole event cheerfully and with calm efficiency precisely to my order, right down to a particular soup starter for dinner through to the presentation of the birthday cake, the wine and flowers. All of the staff went out of their way to help make the occasion quite memorable for a family party aged from two to seventy years, and I don't think it could have been bettered in any way. Thank you Victoria for a memory that will last a long time.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the deluxe rooms overlooking the sea.

overall this is a good hotel, staff are friendly and the rooms are adequate. within the hotel brochure in every room is a hotel guide that says
"INTERNET ACCESS
A free WI-FI service is available throughout the hotel."
Unfortunately this is not available in your room, limited access is there but as the connection to the server is weak the connection from the room comes and goes, not brilliant if you are in the middle of a conference call over the internet or connecting to your companies server!
I stay here once a week every week for 3 months at a time, spending about £100 a week, surely for this they can provide better internet access!!
I have also stayed in local BnB that has great WI-FI access from every room for free.

Room Tip: ask for coast facing

We tried the hotel restaurant as it was near the self catering apartment we were staying in for the week.
The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent - they have a daily special menu which is very reasonable and the roast dinners were lovely. If you want vegetables check that your meal does come with these as sometimes it does not sate this on the menu. but if you ask they will bring them and we were not charged any extra.
Lovely surroundings, very clean and if you can bag a window seat - you get an excellent sea view. Will defo be going back there again next time we are in the area.

We have just had a two night weekend stay at this hotel and overall we were very pleased. The location is superb. Just a short walk from the beach and putting green and within easy walking distance of the town centre. This is probably one of the quietest large hotels we have ever stayed in. Bearing in mind there was a wedding reception on the Saturday night we had no noise at all and even though our room overlooked the main road we didn't have a problem.
It is a very tastefully decorated hotel with lovely well kept gardens where you can sit with your drink and steps leading up to the seafront. The room itself was a really good size and the bed clean and comfortable. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were provided on the hospitality tray.
The bathroom was huge and nice and bright. Unfortunately it was also the only source of disappointment for us owing to the fact that our toilet kept backing up and we were struggling to use it. We did report it on our way out in the evening and on our return somebody had been up to have a look but the problem was still there. On checkout the following morning we reported it again so hopefully the next guests didn't have the same problem.
All the staff were very friendly and efficient, both in the bar and at breakfast which was very nice with a wide choice. The dining room has stunning sea views. The bar was well stocked and very reasonably priced.
We had gone through KGB deals which meant that this was superb value for money. Would we have paid the full normal amount? Possibly but I think in that case we would have asked for another room because of the toilet problems.
An excellent place to stay which we would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the sea have stunning views
