This is a fantastic hotel. Every member of staff was superb, a different class from most hotels. The restaurant was the best meal we have had for a long time including a month in Florida and a month in Palm Springs. The crooked barn restaurant is a delightful setting with exposed beams and fantastic lighting. The staff were great in organising flowers for my mothers 88th birthday.
Could not recommend this place more highly. The winter special of a 'free' dinner allowance is a great deal not to be missed.

Excellent accommodation, with food to match looking forward to visiting again soon. The hotel makes for a most relaxing getaway. The hotel is situated in a very quiet location within walking distance of the broads, with an award winning restaurant which once you have tried you will definatly want to visit again.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are good value for money

We were looking for a venue for a special diamond wedding meal, to suit a family with a range of ages and tastes. Good accessibility for wheelchair users, and toilets on the same level as the dining area were a criteria. We booked for Easter Sunday lunch to try out 'The Crooked Barn'. We found a large light dining room in the barn, with crisp white table cloths, and friendly, but unobtrusive, efficient service. The menu wasn't extensive but the options were all tempting. We were all pleased with our choices - and had three courses. We will be booking for the celebration meal.

Just returned from another lovely stay here. Can't wait to go back. Dinner and breakfast deliciously up to expectations once again and I cannot reiterate enough the quality of the service. Everyone is made to feel really special.

Eaten many times at this fine establishment my critisisms are the food can be a bit over complex every thing has to have an added flavour or sauce making the whole affair very rich, I longed for some plain spuds to balance of the rich sauces, but it is not unpleasent and providing you eat in the barn itself then it is a good experience, pricey ? YES but don't go every week

They say first impressions count; on arrival I was greeted by name before I even had a chance to tell them who I was...could have been an educated guess as I was a single lady arriving alone however it made a difference as did the wonderful staff who served in the restaurant.
The ambience of the whole establishment is peaceful & relaxing so unlike the larger commercial hotels we have all stayed in before. Here you are made to feel like a person who matters, not just a room number. Everywhere is clean and the staff are very professional and helpful. The food is excellent with a good choice for all tastes. The bedrooms are spacious, airy and well designed. I stayed in a Courtyard room and probably the only downside was the water pressure which I'm sure in this modern world could be easily remedied with pumps and power showers (There are eco friendly power showers these days) That aside it is a wonderful place, ideal for chilling out, walking, taking in the countryside, birdlife and of course the odd cream tea and so close to where I need to be that I will definitely be staying here again

an absolute delight, a lovely location right next to Oulton broad, with footpaths leading down from the hotel, to the river, and the nature reserve next door, and a good stroll into Lowestoft. The ambience of the hotel is lovely, the staff delightful, the restaurant in the converted barn is beautiful, good food although on the small portion size and not enough vegetables for our liking but very good apart from that. The rooms were large and well equiped, with spacious bathroom, we only marked it down one star because of the small showere cubicles, low water pressure, and a fixed shower head, the rooms are screaming out for a power shower and larger cubicle, apart from that a perfect retreat.

Room Tip: the garden rooms are much more spacious and have king size beds
