“Very interesting”

Interesting and informative - it is a tiny little museum and yet we spent two and a half hours there, despite having been once before. The staff are volunteers and yet nothing was too much trouble for them. They displayed several model boats which my fiance's uncle (now deceased) had carved and when we asked they went into the back room and came up with some more. They chatted to us for a long time about the fishing industry and had loads of facts and amusing anecdotes.

Lovely museum packed full of artifacts and history. Free to get in, you can give a donation - run by volunteers so well worth supporting!

“An amazing collection”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I visited this museum to see a temporary exhibition of photographs and stayed on the look at the huge collection of model boats, paintings and photographs, not to mention the many artifacts relating to Lowestoft's history. Something of interest for all ages with some child-friendly activities.

Limited facilities on site but free parking and nearby cafe and toilets.

Friendly helpful staff and very sensibly priced. I shall go again.

“A gem of a museum”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

This great museum is tucked away in a street along Lowestoft's sea front. It offers a huge display of Lowestoft's maritime history with a number of models, paintings, diagrams and photographs. As well as all the various displays, there is a childrens' maritime identification trail and plenty of jigsaws and puzzles to keep the little ones occupied. The guys that work here are very friendly and passionate about the museum and its hidden treasures. A real pleasure!

The museum is packed with all things maritime. I have never seen so many detailed models of fishing boats.
