“Perfect Easter Break”
Reviewed April 22, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

It was a perfect set up for the two of us: the privacy of our own accomodation, a delicious cooked breakfast delivered each morning and an informative and friendly owner.

The location was perfect to see the nearby sights: Buckler's Hard, Beaulieu river walk, Lymington and walks in the New Forest. We enjoyed the local pubs and had some lovely meals at the East End Arms, Red Lion and the Oak Inn.

Vanessa was very helpful and gave us lots of information before we arrived and whilst we were there.

If we are ever back in the area I would definitely return.

“A gem of a find, Idyllic setting & private accommodation, best BB breakfast ever”

My family and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at Defoe House which was both idyllic in setting/location/accommodation and provided the best breakfast we have ever had (praise indeed as I travel extensively due to business and frequent many BB and hotels). This BB is a unique little gem as it's separate to the family home and offers you and the owners privacy, your own bedroom lounge with bathroom and kitchenette ideal for a one night or extended stay like we had. The property is warm welcoming and comfortable, Vanessa has thought of all necessary requirements and even has some great toys hidden away for your little ones to find. Vanessa is also a great baker and on arrival bakes you a cake (we were spoilt on more than one occasion by her baking skills which was a huge surprise and one that went down hugely well with our son).

We strongly recommend Defoe House and say to anyone looking for a place to stay in the New Forest you won't be disappointed. I can honestly say for the first time " we will be returning", and we never go to the same place twice, but for location, accommodation and Vanessa's warm hospitality and excellent full English breakfast, we will be back.

Thank you Vanessa - we arrived to a warm welcome from you and your family and of course the adorable Alfie. Comfortable and clean with everything we needed for our stay - including a homemade cake! Great base for travelling around.
We hope to return.
Many thanks

“Fabulous B&B”
Reviewed April 3, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We had a 2 night stay at this lovely B&B. The accommodation is a converted pig barn set in the beautiful gardens of the main house. The large room is nicely furnished including a very comfortable bed. There is also a bathroom and a small kitchenette, very handy to make tea and toast etc.
We were greeted by Vanessa who brought us a cafetiere of coffee and homemade cakes on arrival. She was exceptionally helpful advising us on places to visit, walks etc.
Vanessa brought us a home cooked breakfast at an arranged time, which was delicious especially the homemade preserves and more fresh coffee.
The location is lovely. Ideally suited to visit Lymington and Beaulieu. It is very quiet and there are some lovely walks including the nearby donkey sanctuary which was a delight.
I would highly recommend Defoe House B&B.

“Amazing find, wonderful place”
Reviewed February 2, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Discovered this wonderful place close to Beaulieu and Lymington in the heart of the New Forest. This B&B also provides limited self-catering facilities, which is great if you fancy a quick snack after a busy day exploring the area. The accommodation itself is separate to the main house and finished to a very high standard, the bed was particularly comfortable.

We received a very warm welcome from Vanessa, George and family, including Alfie the dog, who made us feel like old friends and we'll definitely be back.
