Description: Well you've finally found that pub where Jimi Hendrix jammed before he did the IOW festival. It's changed a bit since then! It's now rather smart. Sort of coastal shabby chic, but it works. It's had a makeover recently and it's now gone "all foodie". Between heathland and waterside, and en-route for Lymington Pier ferry terminal, The Waggon & Horses has become a well-established New Forest favourite. With Wadworth accredited beer, decent wine and a rather fab local chef, producing very Tom Kerridge-esque dishes, it's definitely a destination venue these days. Don't panic, there is still fish & chips, but it's a bit more up market than the usual. Not scary prices either, just good locally sourced Hampshire products with a little twist. The ambience is nothing short of laid-back but with damn fine food and service.

Its such a nice place to eat, I really am reluctant to share it!!

Its a fairly small and cosy place, but every effort is made to be inviting , well presented, friendly and AMAZING home cooked meals. The choice is lovely (and its all fresh and home cooked food/produce) and the portions are brilliant. The fish and chips are the best in the area, steaks cooked to perfection, good choice of wines, the Manager and the team are all so friendly and the place is spotlessly clean.

Looking forward to our next visit. :)

“Waggon & Horses”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

The Waggon & Horses at Lymington in the New Forest can only be described as excellent! My wife and I dined with our daughter and her partner at our second attempt to find a good eatery and were not disappointed with this establishment. The food was freshly cooked and of a very high standard that one would expect in the New Forest. The service reflected the food standard although it is advisable to make a booking. Highly recommended.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Went for lunch on Saturday 2nd February with two friends. Sat in a lovely sunny spot by the window but were offered other tables near the log fires but were happy to feel the sun on our backs. Very attentive and helpful staff, lovely decor, very good ambience. We had a starter and main dishes that were all extremely well presented and delicious. Will look forward to going again. Only comment I would make is that they stop doing food at 2pm on a Saturday which is too early - needs to be 2.30 or 3pm.

“Consistently Good”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We have eaten here 5 times since the new management took over. Every time we have had excellent meals and service. We were part of a group of 8 last Saturday and enjoyed various meals including Herb Crusted Loin of Cod, Pork Belly, Fish & Chips and Local Bangers & Mash; all cooked and presented very well indeed. We shared deserts which were very scrummy. Thoroughly recommended. Just a note that if you are searching for a website for the pub it's best to use the Wadworth Brewery site and ignore the Daily Echo report on the internet from 2010 which is well out of date.
