We tried this place for a drink first after reading good reviews.
We were greeted nicely and served promptly. The pub itself is a little den, with low lighting and fantastic open fire. There is a good wine menu and we'll keep beers.
On a different night we decided to try the food and was not disappointed at all.
I ordered a starter of nachos and there was enough for four people! Although I didn't mind that..
We both had mains and they too were generous portions and both very tasty.
We would certainly return here when next in the area and if your travelling nearby then give it a try.

With 2 year old in tow, we tried a few American classics- mac n-cheese & potato skins. But these dishes were far from ordinary. The cheese was rich and sharp. Much better than bland American cheese. The potato skins were topped with chunks of mushrooms and bacon. delicious, although I do feel as if I have gained 3 lbs since hotel check in .

Visited on a miserable day during the week, welcoming open fire and friendly owners. Small menu reflecting that it was home cooked. Delicious Fish and chips which was value for money. Why go to the recently opened Wetherspoons when you can support a friendly locaL The pub is at the very top of the High Street so it is worth walking a little further to reach it.
