Good food, interesting and varied choice, good value, friendly people and liked the surroundings. Can recommend the treacle pudding with a hint of ginger

This is a popular venue with local people so we were extremely disappointed by the quality of food and service. The menu has a huge number of options so everything is of the frozen meal variety.

The food was really good, not fussy, good value. I love the "Mini puds", for when you have had a really good meal, but just need to finish off with something sweet. The service was attentive and good.

i am a local and this used to be the westover arms which was highly priced and pretentious. the beach house has lost the pretension but has kept the magnificent interior historic decor of course. we had the lunchtime set menu which was simple plain food cooked very well at an amazing price - 7.95 for 2 courses and 9.95 for three. we had pate to start and it was a big portion of very nice pate with interesting toasted bread. we could also have had soup and i forget the other choices. mains were scampi, gammon egg and chips. fish and chips etc but i had the bean chilli and it was delightful and beautifully presented. choices of dessert included ice creams, blackberry and apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding. so good traditional british food but above the standard of pub grub. there were four of us and we were all really pleased with our meals. the views are out towards the needles on the isle of wight - very picturesque - in one of 2 similar dining rooms. in summer you can sit outside with lovely views. the only drawback was the service - it was efficient but not happy and welcoming - come on ladies give us a smile, please. i really hope the beach house keeps this kind of menu and its prices and we will visit often. but i hope the service becomes more welcoming.
