“Perfect get away”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely little hotel and it did not disappoint . We stayed in a garden room (room 15) at the rear of the hotel and found the room to be well appointed and perfectly quiet.

We had opted for the sneaky winter break offer which was £130 DBB for the two of plus a cream tea on the day of arrival. Everything was perfect from the freshly cooked scones to the fillet steak for evening meal.

We can't recommend this hotel enough for value for money and customer service.

Room Tip: Get one of the garden rooms at the rear of the hotel because if you have a front facing room the Sun...

All the staff were extremely friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to look after us.

Customer service was excellent in all respects; this included valet parking our car, changing bed linen without quibble because my wife is sensitive to feathers; we were assured that it was anti-allergen but they changed it anyway!

Restaurant service was first class and good menu choice. The actual meals were very good.

Car parking is a minor quibble, because no car park on site. Hotel has some reserved spaces in public car park, 2 minute walk away. We were unaware of this beforehand, but phoned when we pulled up outside and someone came immediately to collect our baggage and to park the car for us.

I stayed here for my 30th birthday recently. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are very friendly, particularly Alexis who served us at breakfast and had some amusing stories to tell. We had afternoon tea and a bottle of wine in the conservatory when we arrived, which was great, the wine was gorgeous. We stayed in room 25, which is one of the four poster rooms at the front of the hotel. It had a lovely roll top bath, which was fab, and Rollo the little toy dog on the bed was a nice extra- you put him outside the door if you don't want to be disturbed ("let sleeping dogs lie"). Breakfast was delicious. We ate at Egan's down the road, so didn't sample the restaurant food. My only gripe was that I had a really bad night's sleep... the mattress was slanted and it wasn't very comfortable to sleep on at all. It needs turning over or a new one bought.

I recently got married at Stanwell House Hotel and can highly recommend the venue as well as the wonderful staff they have working for them. The staff are very friendly, helpful and listen to your requirements as well as offering advice. The chef Charlie cooked a lovely, delicious, perfect feast for all our friends and the delivery of the food ran seamlessly. The hotel itself is very unique and characteristic, with all the facilities you require. It is situated in the high street so is close to the quay and shops. The hotel is dog friendly and has a variety of rooms to suit different budgets (although all rooms are of a high standard). Would definitely recommend a visit and we will be returning in future for a romantic getaway.

"Good food, Good service, GreatLocation"
Have been to this restaurant many times for lunch and evening meals. Always excellent food every time we visit, there is a good variety and choice of dishes. Service is always with a smile and the waitresses are all very pleasant. The Hotel Manager Lucie is always, friendly and very welcoming which makes eating there all the more special. The atmosphere is very relaxing and decor clean & modern. My husband booked for valentines night, the food and evening was perfect in every way. We had the "tasting menu" which was wonderful, food was fantastic, very fresh and cooked to perfection as always.
Will keep, returning again and again as we love this place, especially the champagne which can be purchased by the glass or bottle. We recommend Stanwell's to everyone as they always go that extra mile for you and make you feel special, it's worth a visit.
Thanks for making Valentines night so special.

Found this hotel on the internet. From the first phone call to make enquiries, we felt very well treated and the receptionist so very helpful. On arrival we were greeted very warmly and found this friendly warmth from all the staff which we felt was also very genuine.
The Hotel was spotless. It is also very dog friendly. There is a very comfortable conservatory where meals can be taken with your dog. as for the food, a huge selection for breakfast but we went for the traditional English which was superb and local produce. Even the dog got a sausage! we had two evening meals from a very varied menu and again, superb quality with a fantastic wine list. There is also cosy bar area. The room was a good size, very comfortable bed and a door leading out onto the garden. Also a free dog blanket, treats and bags!
The hotel is well situated for walks along the Solent, and train station also shops, pubs etc.
Its easy to find something to 'nit pick' about, any hotel but I will not do that with this hotel, it doesnt deserve it!!
Minor point. The hotel car park is across the street behind some buildings and you need to drive arround to the back of the buildings to get to the car park which has about a dozen spaces. having said that, if you wish to park outside the hotel, staff are willing to help with luggage and even park your car!! But thats the nature of the hotel, nothing is too much trouble! We will be returning for another break later in the year! Well done to all the staff!

Room Tip: Just tell the receptionist your requirements!

Stayed here for two nights in one on of their standard garden rooms (no.4), travelled here by train so can’t comment about the parking, but apparently it’s very limited. The Train Station is only a short five minute walk away and the hotel is located on the main high street.
The staff are very helpful and welcoming especially the lady on reception. The room was very comfortable and clean with patio doors opening on to the garden. The bathroom was also spotless and modern, no bath but a large walk-in shower.
Dinner was in the fish restaurant with a good choice of meals, the food was of a high standard.
Breakfast was a choice of continental and cooked breakfast.
I got the impression that this was a dog friendly hotel, but check first.
Overall the hotel is smart but with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
I will stay here again next time and I would highly recommend it to others.
