“Consistently excellent food, service and atmosphere.”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

This was my second time at the Red Lion and again it's a lovely place to eat, Liver and bacon, Sausage and mash, fish pie and veg....all great flavours and more than ample portions. Whilst good food is important it's the service here that makes such a big difference, nothing is too much trouble even with a young dog and sister with a broken ankle in tow! The pub was busy when we arrived so worth booking but don't think it's overcrowded or food will suffer....because it didn't.

I'm not one to write a rave review about a pub.....but when you haven't a critical word to say it's hard not to gush a bit. Give it a try...

“Food has gone from excellent to just ok...”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

We visit this pub regularly, it used to be really good. Unfortunately it has changed over the last year. The food has gone from excellent down to just ok. I had a pate starter and enquired if there would be enough bread to go with it as last time they charged £1.20 for an extra piece of bread! I was assured there was enough, when the starter arrived there were only a few pieces of bread and a huge pot of pate. When I asked for more bread I was told there would be a charge for this!!! Why not tell me before ordering!!
One of my fellow diners ordered the fish pie which was lacking in fish! What’s happened Red Lion. I’m going to give you a miss for 6 months then try my luck 1 last time… Hopefully changes will be made by then. So for now it’s off to the Waggon & Horses.
