Great food beautifully presented and good value -restaurant is in a basement which can make it challenging for tall guests

After reading the good reviews, my wife and I tried it out last week.

Firstly the entrance is a bit off puting - down a littered run down alley with iron gates leading down a couple of stairs which gave it a bit of a dungeon feel.

Inside the decor is yellow tinged drabness, and with the low ceiling I found the atmosphere to be a bit claustraphobic. No windows and sitting tucked into a tight alcove did not create a nice atmosphere.

The welcome from the lady in charge was luke warm to say the least. We booked for 8.30 and as there was no one else in the restaurant we got the feeling the staff wanted to lock up asap.

The food however was nice with a home cooked feel about it, and was very reasonably priced. We had a glass of their Rose wine each which to be honest was not the best.

To summarise - nice food but the place itself is not one I would return to.

Thank-you for your recent review, we are very happy that you liked our food; it is our main aim for our customers to enjoy our food. Yes along with most restaurants in this country we were very quite during the Olympic 200 metre final, it was a good race wasn’t it?

We do promote ourselves as a rustic, back street Bistro so we are a little surprised that you were expecting a glass fronted beach type location. Along with most restaurants we do pay a lot of money in rates to our local council and do also wish that they cleaned the streets more often.

The rose wine is ok, but as it is the very cheapest glass of wine on our list it most certainly is not the best wine we serve, they are a little more expensive than £3.50 a glass.

As you live a long way from us we would not expect you to return really, but having looked at all the other reviews you have written we can see you have a lot of negative things to write.

We cannot understand why having such a vast knowledge of the catering industry you have not opened your own restaurant; surely you would make a fortune and be world famous.

We are very happy that you enjoyed the food here at Greens Bistro.

Being the first time we've visited this establishment, we were not disappointed by the choice and quality of the food, which is extremely competitively priced. The staff were very friendly but found service a little slow. There seemed to be an extended time between courses. That said, it will suit some patrons and should not detract from the standard of food.

This is our second visit to Greens and again we were not disappointed. The meal was delicious, I had sea bass with cray fish risotto and my other half had pork which was very tasty. Good ambiance and excellent service.

My wife and i stayed over in st annes for my birthday, and in the evening we were looking for somewhere nice to eat out ,and whilst walking amongst the different restaurants behind our hotel on the main seafront in st annes we stumbled onto a sign for the green bistro restaurant on a side street. This was a Thursday night and we got the last table in there, there was the option for a set menu or the main menu.We opted for the 3, course set menu which was £17.95 all food is cooked to order from local ingredients and is well presented and very nice.
