“One of Lytham's Finest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2009

I stay at the Ad Astra everytime I visit Lytham St Annes. I return for the warm welcome, the clean rooms and the superior breakfast. It is also excellent value for money. I have just one minor gripe. While I respect the fact that Paul and/or Sherilynn are religious, I do resent being force-fed Christian rock with my breakfast. BBC Radio 2 would be much more palatable at that hour of the morning.

I have just spent three nights at Ad Astra and was pleasantly surprised. It is very clean and well decorated throughout. I stayed in Oak which although I was a single had a double bed, bunks and a portable bed. The shower was very good although a little small (I am 6 feet tall). The room was serviced each day, and there is free WiFi. The breakfast was excellent with a large variety. Clearly the owners Sherilee and Paul Densham work very hard to, as they say run a Guest House that they themselves would want to stay in, and that in itself is a measure of the quality that you can expect. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We have just spent a very enjoyable long weekend in Lytham St Annes staying at this delightful guest house. We stayed in Beech which is a family sized room on the 2nd floor with a sea view. As the property does not face directly on to the sea front the view is limited but far exceeds other rooms within local sea front hotels where we have paid extortionate amounts for depressing rooms without sea views. The room was large, light and airy with tea and coffee making facilities, full size TV with digibox and DVD player. The bathroom again was clean with a shower cabinet and use of toiletries.

Breakfast was exceptional with a choice of cereals, fruit juice, yogurt followed by either a traditional cooked English breakfast or vegan or vegetarian option. A good supply of tea, coffee and toast was provided. It was a welcome change to be offered a vegetarian breakfast rather than having to opt for traditional minus the meat. Sherilees signature dish of Eggs Ad Astra (creamy egg and cheese)was delicious and the grilled haloumi was also very nice. For the carnivores the meat products are apparently of high quality and locally sourced.

Sherilee and Paul were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast room is apparently kept open throughout the day and evening so that guests could return with take aways and have somewhere comfortable to eat which I think could be very useful if you do not wish to eat out every evening. It is the attention to small details which make this a lovely place to stay and we would have no hesitation in staying here on our next visit up north.
