“lovely hotel and good value”
Reviewed June 13, 2010

We have just returned from a three night break at the Bedford Hotel. The hotel is tastefully decorated (everything is as per their website), the food is well presented & nicely cooked, the staff are friendly & helpful, especially Andrew on reception. Not only is the hotel clean but I noticed that the staff were quick to clear away used plates/glasses,etc and tables were cleaned properly between guests using them. I did ask for a quiet room as a precaution when booking. I havent been to the area for many years and remembered that the road used to be quite busy and also the hotel has a function room which was used every night whilst we were there - I sleep light and I can assure you I slept soundly in Room 41! Our matress was quite firm which suited us but if you like a very soft one it may be worth asking for this when booking. The guests whilst we were there seemed to be predominantly of a mature nature and arrived on their own (not a coach party), which as a sure sign of a good hotel offering value for money. Would we return, certainly, we are hoping to take my mother there later in the season or if not next year. Thank you once again. A&K

The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff are so lovely, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotless, I really cant say enough. We have been to quite a few hotels with the same ratings and this one is by far the best.

We found this hotel , by chance, a few years ago and have been staying 2/3 times a year ever since. Although it is not on the sea front the warm and friendly atmosphere makes up for it.
The Club rooms are well appointed and well serviced by their staff.

ALL the staff are happy to help you and make your stay as welcoming as possible.

The food is wonderful, locally sourced, and beautifully cooked by Paul and his team.

There is also a small cafe serving light snacks and lunches where the quality is excellent.

If you eat too much ( as I generally do) then the in house gym facilities will help you shed a few pounds before the next meal.

Whether it is a short break or longer stay we think it is well worth trying - like us you may find yourself coming back again and again.

We have stayed at the Bedford at least three times a year over the past 9 years and have yet to come away less than impressed. The staff who most have been there since our first visit, are amazing in their ability to give the best service no matter how busy they are. They are also expert in knowing when to engage in conversation and when to leave you you alone. The rooms have always been to the highest standard of cleanliness and functioality and any reported issues have been dealt with the same day.
The food is always prepared to the best quality using local suppliers whenever possible.
It sounds as though we are fans of the Bedford, but when we see the same faces at the Twixmas break and at other times year after year, it shows that it is not just us.
I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough, so, if you are planning a break in the north west of the country in the future, give Carl, Lyn, Graham and their staff a try, you will not regret it.

Lovely hotel in a very convenient position close to shops and sea front. The food was excellent and plentiful, the staff friendly and smartly dressed. We booked a superior room which was comfortable and very clean (but at the back of the hotel) and the bathroom was large with a good shower and bath. There is a super guests lounge which was rarely used while we were there; we spent one night sitting in front of the large TV in comfy leather chairs, with a couple of beers from the bar (which was less expensive than most!) completely on our own. The only thing we found that didn't work were the satellite channels, advertised as "multi channel satellite teletext television".
Would definitley return.

We found the Bedford Hotel to be very good in every way.
Facilities very good- wireless connection, a well equiped gym, very good coffee shop.
Food - good choice, very good quality and well presented.
Hospitatlity - very warm welcome, nothing was too much and all staff very smart, friendly and professional (despite how busy they were).
Rooms - dining room very smart. Bedrooms clean and modern furnishings. Room small but it did not detract from our stay.
We would definately return.

  • Liked — Food and professionalism of staff
  • Disliked — size of room (but not a big problem)

I have just spent my third night at the Bedford ... and there is very little that can be faulted. I have stayed in 2 rooms, both of which are well appointed and have large bathrooms (although the bath does take an age to fill). The hotel is served by FREE wireless internet, which is an excellent move by the hotel. The rooms also have trouser presses and bath robes supplied as standard. The staff appear to be friendly, the rooms cleaned well and the only thing missing (my bugbear) is that there is no bottle of water supplied in the room as I prefer that to tea/coffee.

Breakfasts are good, and although I havent eaten dinner in the hotel, the menu does look good, albeit a little expensive for the casual diner, and the business traveller who would often prefer a snack in the room.

Location wise - excellent for the shops at Lytham St Annes and a M&S Food outlet is about 250 yards down the road and the sea front can be found a similar stroll away.

Will definately stay here again - I have booked for 2 nights next week to be honest, which is as good a recommendation as I can give.

  • Liked — Free internet access and great bedrooms
  • Disliked — No bottled water supplied and snacks menu lacking
