Review of Fairhaven Lake

Attraction details
Owner description: Fairhaven Lake is one of the borough's most popular attractions. Nestled between Lytham and St Anne's, a salt water lake, positioned directly on the coast next to Granny's Bay and Stanner Bank. Enjoy the many recreational facilities provided, motorboat, canoe and rowing boat hire. For the less adventurous there is an electrically powered motor launch, enjoy the cruise and enjoy the scenery from the launch on a 10-15 min cruise. Lakeside facilities include a cafe and the RSPB Discovery Centre. The lake is one of the most important wildfowl locations in Europe, with a group of more than 250 Canada Geese, several Swans (including a solitary Black one) and many coots, water hens and other smaller fowl.

“Fairhaven Lake Kiosk (Inner Promenade)”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

After a long walk (for us!) from home and around Fairhaven Lake and onward along the promenade to the Windmill, we always enjoy stopping off at the Kiosk just where the car park meets the Inner Promenade, and picking up a coffee and a chocolate bar to boost energy levels. They do great ice creams, cans and cartons too. You can sit on a bench and enjoy the view of the estuary. There's always something new to see.

“Nice for a quiet stroll”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

We walked along the path above the beach (high tide) and round the lake. Very pleasant on a very hot day. The were a few people boating and playing tennis but it really was too hot.The replica spitfire and its story was interesting (I did not know it was there). The list of birds viewed in and around the area was very useful. Enjoyed the stroll but nothing special stands out.

“lovely area”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

We have been to lytham st Anne's many many times but only recently extended our walk along the beach to some steps and what a surprise. No idea fair haven existed and not so well advertise in St Anne's. Beautiful boating lake with a cafe and ice cream, boat trips, toilets, and a RAF memorial area with a spitfire replica. We hired a boat at a reasonable price and walked around the footpath. Definitely worth a visit.

“Boats and tennis”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

Loved the boats for kids and adults. Tennis courts need a lot of attention, very expensive for potholes and bad nets.

“A nice walk”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

We enjoyed a nice walk around the lake here on a very hot and busy day. It's not the most beautiful place as there is a lot of concrete and it all seems very manmade, but would be a good place to walk the dog. There are also boats on the lake that you can hire but we didn't do this as it was so busy.
