“expensive pizza, worth it?”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

Visited the county as we had heard it had transformed into a pizza kitchen pub. We sat down and read the menu only to discover how expensive the pizzas actually were. Ranging from £9-£12. Thats Pizza Express prices, and we know how good they taste. We were about to up sticks and go somewhere else when we came across the lunch offer. £7.50 for any 12" pizza or salad and a drink. So we decided to give it a whirl. It was ok, nothing major. Pizza tasted frozen not freshly prepared. Ordered a portion of potato wedges which were overcooked and solid. Overall not sure about the pizza oven in a pub thing. Shame really as The County used to be a good pub. There are better places in Lytham to eat and most notably places that make better pizza (Pizza Express)

“Absolutely disgusting!”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

Yet another good pub ruined by being taken over by the Food Industry!

We went in looking to have a few drinks after eating elsewhere, and were hit in the face by the horrendous metallic smell that pervaded the entire place!
It is apparently the smell given off by the large "Pizza Oven" set up stuck unceramoniously in the main part of the bar!
It wasnt in action, so goodness knows what its like when its in operation!

The staff were disinterested and bored looking!

We were made to feel as welcome as wasps at a picnic!

We only stayed for one drink...couldnt stand the smell any longer than that!

The decor has been re vamped..by a blind monkey with a colour chart and looks like nothing on earth...whats it supposed to be??

Tiles, black and white wallpaper, mixed in with dark wood left over from a previous incarnation.

Had never heard of a pizza pub set up before...I like to have the two seperately!
And yes, provide bar meals, but am still puzzled by the combination!

There are several wonderful restaurants in Lytham who provide traditional and very tasty pizzas, so WHY the need for a mish mash like this monstrosity!

The County always was somewhere to visit for a drink, and a traditional meal.....but we will not be back!

“Good but...”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We don't normally go out for pizza as thye are so expensive, but the cIunty came highly recommended by a friend. We ordered drinks first, which seemed very expensive, and then found a table and ordered our food. My partner chose the chicken tikka 12 inch and I went for the Posh Hawiian. Both arrived promptly, looked appetizing and were hot. It turned out I had made the beter choice. Loads of topping and the chilli infused pineapple was yummy. There was a lack of chicken on the other pizza and my partner said it tasted like supermarket tikka. We both said we would go again, but he would chose a different topping. The ale from Lytham brewery was also very good, if a little expensive. Overall a good experience and looking forward to our next visit.

“Great Pizza and Great service.”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

We don't normally do Pizza, but we decided to give the County a try on a recent visit to Lytham. The Landlord was very friendly and helpful as were all the staff. Some people may find the menu a little limited, but we went for the 16" pizza with everything on, and it was as good a Pizza as we have had. The olives marinated in chilli and garlic made for a tasty starter. The County is well decorated and furnished and was overall a pleasant experience and we will definitely return.

“Stilton Heaven”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

My favourite dish at the County is the Pizza Pillows.
These are shaped like tricorns with Stilton in the middle and are delicious.
Next favourite is the Duck pizza with Hoi Sin sauce, cucumber and spring onions.
There is so much to choose from including burgers and duck in pancakes.
Everything is delicious and the staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
Pleasant decor and great music playing in the background.
Lots of special offers every day for the food and the drinks and cocktails.
Special mention to the two Stuarts, who always look after us so well .
Thank you
Highly recommended
