Description: Dear Customers, Arisia opened in October 2013 with an aim of introducing honest Indian cooking to Newport Pagnell and the wider Milton Keynes area. Housed in a large Grade II listed building, Arisia offered an exciting menu of freshly prepared dishes using high quality ingredients served in a relaxed setting. After 3 fantastic years, we will be closing Arisia. Our final dinner service took place on Sunday 22nd January 2017. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our valued customers. Without you this journey would not have been possible. We will miss you all dearly. Best wishes, The entire Arisia Team January 2017

“Amazing food - very different to the norm”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

I visited along with the other members of the Milton Keynes Curry Club. Always good to try a new venue and the other reviews here looked promising.

Firstly this it's worth noting this is a large building which includes a bar area and upstairs. Now I'm not sure if this suits all occasions and perhaps the ambience may not be your thing but then there's the food.

We took the unheard of step of allowing the owner to select our food. He spent some time explaining the different style of real indian food and had some very strong suggestions about what to try.

Starters were out of this world. Highlights for me were the huge garlic prawns and the coriander chicken. As others have noted be warned that starters are huge. You are advised to only order and eat your starters before ordering mains and I think that is sound advice.

I was pretty full before the mains but did manage to fit some some lovely lamb along with some breads and veg.

My only reservation is the size of the place and whether you consider the layout to your tastes. Only for the reason I've given it four out of five. I'd give five for the food!

“Wonderfully vibrant flavours”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

This was our second visit to this recently opened restaurant. Both times we found the food fantastic. Every dish featured fresh, well balanced flavours which came through with such intensity. Portions are more than generous so we shared, perfect for groups if you want to get a selection of dishes and share them around. With the cocktail lounge upstairs the bar offers a great selection of drinks, all available to the table. The atmosphere is friendly but the music on our last visit was a playlist of 80's and 90's pop classics from a TV music channel, slightly unusual but the quality of the food and service left us perfectly satisfied and very full :)

“Indian Gem in Newport Pagnell”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

What a fab experience after so long in Milton Keynes. This is the sort of restaurant which was missing in our city and here comes this gem Arisia Lounge.
Having read here on Trip Advisor and few freiends recommending the restaurant i took a chance and went along with four mates.
The greeting was very friendly and we got seated ..as we were ordering our starters we got to meet Krish [on wheelchair with broken leg] who came over and introduced himself and told us right away we were ordering to much and to reorder if we felt it was not enough. He was spot on and the dishes he told us to order were yummy and the portion were big.
For sure now this will be my local curry house and it was heart warming to see so many other indians dining here...The bar is well stocked with Indian beers as well.We were not rushed at all and took our time and had a lovely eveing in a long time.Wish them all the best and for them to carry on with the great service and food.
Pete

“A great experience....”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

I live local to Arisia Lounge and had heard about it via word of mouth and then seen it here on Trip Advisor. It has had no advertising so far ( not that we had seen ) and there is nothing on the outside of the building telling what it is. It opens Tuesday to Sunday 6pm to 11pm. It has in fact taken over the old Conservative Club premises on St John St.
I checked out their website to see that this is no 'typical UK ' Indian restaurant. As an example, here are a few things that you will NOT find on the menu. Madras, Vindaloo, Pilau rice or the usual list of small side dishes.
This restaurant is providing food as eaten by Indians, not Indian food as eaten in 'Typical UK' Indian restaurants.
I booked a table ( recommended) for 4 on a Saturday night. We were greeted by a well stocked bar with a décor that also is not typical. Flat screen TV's and a picture window that allowed you to see the Chef's at work. The restaurant was very busy. Over half the customers were Indian families which was fantastic as we were sure they knew good food when they saw it.
Be prepared to ask the staff any questions so you understand exactly what you are ordering, particularly regarding how 'hot' the various dishes are. Staff were very knowledgeable.
We decided to order 4 starters and share them to experience as many dishes as possible. We had lamb samosa's, chicken samosa's and they were the best ever. We had a vegetarian dish and a King Prawn starter. Now, the King Prawn dish was a whole new experience. It was £11.95 and your initial reaction is that that is expensive. It was served on a tray that was about a foot long that had 4 King Prawns on it. The tray was full and the Prawns were very, very big!! They were almost mini lobsters! They were fantastic and could easily be had as a main course.
We had been advised to order our starters, eat them, and then decide what we wanted as a main course. Very good advice as my wife was already full and wanted nothing else.
My friend had a lamb biryani and took half home in a doggy bag.
We were not rushed, it was a pleasure to relax, eat our starters, continue talking and order our main courses when we were ready. Over 3 hours passed very quickly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will return.

An experience that is recommended.

“Sublime flavours!”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Recently opened, and blown away with the food. Visited twice in the past few weeks and the best 2 curries i've ever had.

Prices are a little high, but certainly worth it as the food is the finest curry i've ever tasted. Rice dishes are priced highly but portions are for two.

The atmosphere is a little odd; flat screen TV's and the Grease soundtrack playing with tables dotted around the place isn't your average curry house, but the food makes up for the strange surroundings!

We've not booked on either visit but both times we had the last table so recommend phoning ahead.
