“Good hotel in nice village”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

I stayed for one night. The standard amenities are good and the staff are friendly. The rooms are smallish but clean and well presented with Digital TV and coffee making facilities.

As others have mentioned the corridors are a little tight and there is limited parking at the rear however there is a public carpark 10 yards to the rear of the hotel car park so there really isnt a problem there.

Newport Pagnell is a nice quaint village and is particularly pretty this time of year.

Breakfast was good and its a good overall hotel.

The bar and restaurant areas where a pleasure to be in. The staff where very helpful and I did not feel uncomfortable by myself. I arrived at 8pm and struggled to find anywhere to park as the hotel only has a very small car park although there are free car parks in the area, I did not want to walk far with my laptop, suit jacket and suitcase. On arrival in the hotel I was told I was on the first floor but not that I would have to negotiate lots of doors, flights of stairs, small corridors, all very difficult with said luggage and poor room signage directions. The staff did not offer to help with my luggage. The room itself was of a reasonable size but the decor is tired looking. The bed would have benefitted from a new mattress and the shower had no power to it at all and it was difficult to get a good temperature. I ordered room service which arrived in good time, was well presented and delicious. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious as well however the waitress forgot to bring me my tea and I didn't see her back in the room to remind her once she had served all in the room. I even left the room without seeing her again!

Stayed for one night while attending a party. Check in was quick, room was quite small but clean and had everything we needed. Other people have mentioned the low ceilings and sloping floors and you really do need to watch out for them but they just add to the charm of the old building. All the staff were very helpful, we had a few drinks in the bar after the party had ended and the barman was great. Breakfast was very good with a variety of cereals, pastries and cooked breakfast items. The thing that let this hotel down was the ridiculously early check out time - 10.30 is far too early - it's noon at a £29 Travelodge. I appreciate that this is a small hotel and they need to get all the rooms cleaned before the next lot of guests check in, but I think that 10.30 is far too early.

8 of us stayed 3 nights DB&B. My wife and I visited beforehand for a meal and to make the arrangements. They bent over backwards to go along with our wishes. The accommodation was great and the meals uniformly superb. All the staff were very friendly and most helpful. Full marks!

Had lunch here on Sunday and was of good middle of the road standard. Those who had the beef enjoyed it. I had Duck leg which was well cooked and non greasy and the veg were excellent. Would have appreciated some sort of sauce with it to complement it. Avoid bread and butter pudding. The two of us that had that had to leave it. A stodgy solid square with only a few raisins and tasteless block of bread. The person who had the crumble said it was very good! Pleasant, traditional dining room and good service.

Room Tip: I did not stay here. It is a local hotel and simply went there for lunch.

Wanting to go shopping in Milton Keynes and not wishing to stay in a plastic chain type inn/hotel, we elected to stay in Newport Pagnel. So have just spent a few nights at the Swan Revived Hotel. What a great hotel this is, it shoud have 5 stars for food, 5 stars for super staff and 5 stars for just about every thing else. OK we could nit-pick, there was the odd cobweb but that does not detract from the quality of the food or the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff The staff here are a credit to the owners.

Room Tip: We think rooms on the second floor are best.

Staff were extremely helpful and always greeted with a smile. Room was fairly basic and old fashioned but clean and had everything you need. Excellent breakfast in the morning too. The staff really make this a recommendable hotel.
