“No sleep”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

It is advertised as Days Inn Milton Keynes but is at Newport Pagnal sevices so well away from Milton Keynes center. Clean hotel with basic well sized room. Unfortunately every time a bedroom door closed the room shook, This was due to the locks on the doors having to have the key turned in them for a smooth close. I thought I was on the set of crossroads. I was using the hotel for an early start in the morning so I suffered from a lack of sleep. The guest services directory says that to contact reception dial “0” on the phone, but there is not one. The water was only warm, personally I like a hot shower. Overall this is not to the usual Days Inn standard. Although it is a fair distance from the motorway you can hear it in the room. The price was at the top end of the chains normal prices so I did expect better.

I must admit worrying when I first drove up to the hotel because it looked a bit like an old motel you see in the films. However, the interior (the bit that really matters) is completely different. Friendly staff and well decorated. Rooms are very comfortable, modern and spacious. I slept well. This is a good location for the M1 and surrounding area. You can also make use of the service station if you don't want to pay for breakfast or need late night supplies. Very good value for money, and recommended.

We were going to a party 20 miles from home and it was cheaper to stay here than get taxi's. When we pulled up it did look like the Bate's motel but inside it is quiet, clean, comfortable and the staff pleasant. Our room looked out over lovely countryside.

If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive stay and you are happy with staying somewhere that is a little dated but very clean, organised and in a good location for access to the M1, then this is definitely a good option. Only stayed two nights but the hotel was very comfortable, couldn't hear the traffic at night and most importantly it felt safe and secure and I would definitely stay again or recommend for short stays.

We were quite sniffy when we booked this place that we would be staying at the motorway services, but it was a really excellent night's stay and at incredible value. The month before we'd stayed at a Premier Inn in Milton Keynes but the price difference between that and this hotel was almost half the price. And the Days Inn was definitely much the superior experience too. Very quiet, extremely clean and comfy bed, powerful shower and Twinings tea: what more could you want?

Only downside is that it is not the easiet place to find at the services, and when you do get to it, it's hard to work out how to get into the car park.

That said, we will definitely stay here again when we need a place near/in Milton Keynes.

What an awful place! I booked through Late Rooms only to find I'd paid £2 over the base rate. My room smelt of stale smoke, basic wasn't the word. The bed was more like a trampolene and I had to keep my hand pushed down on the kettle to make it work. It was more like the Motel from Psycho! When I complained to the receptionist she was less than eager to placate me. She grumbled that the hotel was full so there was nothing she could do and that the room was non-smoking so it can't smell of smoke! The breakfast was very simple, but noting I didn't expect after an awful nights sleep.Never again!

I apologise that your experience was anything less than satisfying. Our goal is to not only meet the needs of each and every guest we serve, but to exceed your expectations to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Unfortunately, you booked to stay in our sister hotel the welcome lodge – which is our budget hotel. These rooms are of a budget standard and different to the Days Inn rooms. We do try our best to explain this on all websites so you are clear at the point of making a reservation.

We will be taking your comments into consideration, and we believe that customer feedback is a great opportunity to improve.

It is our hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you. Again, I apologise for the inconveniences during your stay and hope to see you during your next visit.

This is a motel type accommodation tucked in the far end of Newport Pagnell. It is hard to find but find it we did. The staff are friendly and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was just about OK. To get into the town is a brisk 20 minute walk or a five minute taxi ride.
