We stayed here for a long weekend in our Motorhome and 2 dogs. We chose the adult side and were directed to a generous plot.
First impressions were that it was a very well kept, clean and tidy site and those impressions lasted.
The facilities were clean, central to everyone and the owners have obviously tried to please everybody. It was nice to see that they are striving to continue with their improvements and are environmentally aware.
I think it is an excellent idea to have a dog shower, and one that we were glad to have use of.
The staff were friendly and were there, if needed.
All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site. We will definitely come back.

We camped here with friends for the week before the August Bank holiday.
We were allocated a 10m pitch which wasn't long enough for our tent which is 9.5m plus guy ropes, so the front opening was right on the gravel roadway.
I always found the camping utility block to be very clean with plenty of w'c's, basins and showers.
They are very strict on the one car rule, so we set up our outside social area between the two tents and doubled up on the car parking on one side of our combined pitches.
Security is good with card access to both the road and pedestrian gates.
The ladies in Reception were friendly and super helpful with any query I had.
The reception shop stock is OK, but there is much more in the village post office at better prices before you have to venture to Oakham for the Co-op and Tesco.
The ground is flat and well drained, the only downside being there’s only an inch or two of grass and top soil before you hit the stones. When I say stones I mean loads of them, in fact there is an aggregate quarry in the next field. Prepare to bend your metal pegs and shatter your plastic ones, you’ll also need a heavy mallet to get them in.
There is a pleasant 10 minute walk into Greetham through a gate in the corner of the site were you’ll find three pubs, we tried the Plough and the Black Horse both very good the Plough for Pub Fare and the Black Horse which was a pub cum Indian Restaurant.

Room Tip: If your tent is 9m or longer, ask for the OVERFLOW FIELD where there is no graved road limiting the...

My wife is very picky on cleanliness of campsites, and for this reason this was our first camping trip for 4 years, i looked at plenty of sites, read the reviews, the rules etc and decided on this one.
Me, my wife 2 kids and an adult visitor for 1 night of the trip was no problem.

The staff were great, the facilities very clean and heated, the kids play area fantastic and the pitches spacious. We loved our short trip and certainly would not hesitate to return at any time.

Been here about four times now with usually about three tents. My kids like it here. It has a small playground covered by sand at the back and a big field to play on.
It says no ball games but we weren't stopped. We were only kicking around a football and playing cricket. As long as you're not bothering anyone, ths not a problem.
The toilet block is very clean by the entrance and they have a radio on in there. We went when it was quite busy and I got a shower no problem. The urinals could do with some of those smelly cubes in them though as it can smell a little of urine when standing at them. That's an easy fix.
The big field had a little dog poo on it. But I blame irresponsible dog owners for that. Told the owners and they cleared it up straight away.
It's farming country and I think we picked the wrong weekend regarding smells. On the second day, the farmer next door decided to plough and put some fertiliser down. You get used to it.
The pitches are big and even with some large groups, we never had a problem with noise.
It can sometimes get windy as it is by flat but there are some bushes and high mounds hat shield you a bit.
It's a ten minute walk to the local village and the Plough is well worth a visit for a meal or drink.
Obviously the previous two contributors didn't get on here. Everyone has their own requirements. If you're unsure about anything, read the T&C's or ring them before you go. Overall a great campsite and plenty of kids for others to play with. We didn't use the adult bit but my wife used their showers and they were fine. Looked very quiet.

We have used this site before but on the adult only part, This time as we brought our two grandsons for a few days we had to go to the family area, The toilet shower block was clean and serviced at a sensible time. The problem with this area is mixed caravans and tents. The area are back to back with very little privicy. Unfortunatley some parents seem to let their children run wild with very little thought for others on holiday. This is unfortunate so we would not use this site again unless it was the adult area,

I found this location when looking for a site near to Rutland Water, its location looked perfect as a base to visit the reservoir and to do some cycling on what should have been a glorious weekend break.

However as a large family it is quite difficult for us to transport five large bicycles so if we plan to go to a site near home we often take two vehicles, one car to tow the caravan and my VW Transporter van to carry the bikes. I have done this numerous times at numerous sites and fully realise and expect that my van will not be allowed onto the pitch, but I have NEVER had a problem parking the van outside the site in the parking area; at ANY site.

When we arrived at Rutland Caravan and Camping I queued at the entrance barrier with the caravan and car and my wife parked the van in the car park, well away from the entrance, next to the giant tar stained incinerator and pile of 20 odd scattered pallets, for those of you that know the site.

Now as friendly as she was at first, I am not sure if the lady on reception has had a bad experience with "white van man" in the past or has an aversion to anyone who doesn't drive a Mercedes, but she immediately "pounced" upon the arrival of said vehicle. I just need to add at this point my Van has no sign writing, is a 2010 registration and is in perfect condition, in fact if I was to put two windows in it and screwed a bed down into the back, it would be called a “VW Caravelle" and be classed as a camper.

"We do not allow commercial vehicles on site" she cried Not a problem I replied, we plan on leaving it outside the site entrance in the car park, we just use it to bring all our Bikes in I added. "NO!! It is not allowed on site at all" she howled "you must park it in the village community centre car park down in the village"

At this point I was starting to feel a little unwelcome and unsure if I should just explain that I was not carrying any live ammunition or cattle with foot and Mouth in the van, however not being an argumentative man and adverse to confrontation I decided to just swallow it and move the van once we had set up, "ok" she reluctantly muttered.

After about an 45 minutes we had nearly set our unit up, and on entering the site we had noticed a chip van parked in car park (this is obviously not subject to the no van rule) but noted that it closed at 8pm so sent the kids off to quickly get themselves some tea, as we had come straight from work. This must have angered the watching wardens as we were immedialty set upon at our Caravan for not moving the van "my boss is going mad!! He’s ringing me every 5 minutes to see if you’ve moved it!! He whined"

Now if I had been a violent or augmentative man I think I may well have blown my top at being hounded like this, but chose just to move it and vow not to come back here again, which is a shame.

My whole experience this weekend seems indicative of the CC and has made me decide not to renew my membership again this year.
