“Christmas meal for ladies that lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

I went to the lodge to have a Christmas lunch with my friend.

We went in Dec 2012. We had been to Oakham before lunch for a spot of shopping and as it was was cold we arrived at the lodge early.

We decided to have coffee/tea in the lounge giving us time to chat and browse the menu. We were given mince pies with our drinks which set the scene for a lovely lunch in the warm surrondings.

I decided on Christmas lunch. (Turkey with all the trimmings) followed by chocolate torte. My friend had fish as her main and a lighter option for her dessert

Everything was lovely as we ate in the conservatory. It was a leisurly lunch and a great atmosphere.

“Saturday Lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

We didn`t eat at the Hall but at Barnsdale Lodge across the road. They`ve made it as imposing as possible, feel like you need to wear a tiara!!
There was a good choice of courses but I felt over priced for what we got, lots of fancy names for every day food. The waiting staff were busy but made sure we weren`t kept waiting too long for our drinks and food which was a plus. We ate in The Conservatory, good on a sunny day but not so appealing when it`s raining, quite noisy ..
Overall we felt the food was overpriced for what we had, nearly £5 for a G & T was a bit much , would we go back again ?, I`m not sure.... peoples tastes are different .

“Sunday Lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

We decided to try this restaurant on the 16.09.12 for Sunday lunch and will not bother again, for there are far better eating places in the area. We found that the roast potatoes were hard and not crispy. The crackling on the roast pork was similar to eating elastic bands and the only plus point of the meal was the gravy was delicious.
The quality was similar to an Harvester but at double the price.

“Sunday Lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Visited for Sunday Lunch 19/08/2012 as we had stopped for refreshments last year and liked the
hotel and setting. Unfortunately our dining experience was not to our expectations for the price
of £14.95 for one course which was served with two hard roast potatoes which were inedible and a very small side dish of vegetables,
spoiled what should have been an enjoyable lunch. To his credit the restaurant manager offered to
reduce the bill and provided a cheese course free of charge.
I probably will return in the future but only for a drink or a Bar snack.

“Lunch in the Country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

Last week we had a lovely birthday lunch here at the Barnsdale Lodge. This was a perfect location to stop, have a great meal before going off to explore the area. The menu was extentive and we could choose from sandwiches, a set lunch, or a la carte. We all did the set lunch which was good value. The portions were generous and the food very nicely cooked and served. The staff were obliging too! As the sun shone we enjoyed the garden to eat in and had a very good experience.
