“Fascinating experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

We arrived late expecting to be turned away but the host had hung on for us so a HUGE thank you to him & the rest of the group and apologies again.
We had a great day - my daughter & I opted to take a barn owl each, mr Pip & Paddy, My husband chose a Harris Hawk - Oaky. Although the birds are used to being handled the owner gives you very clear guidance on how to handle and carry the birds.
The walk and flying experience was great and the group was a nice size and mix of ages which was nice.
This is a great experience and was extremely educational.

“Owner is a HOOT!! Nature at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

I bought the falconry experience for my 82 year old stepfather for his birthday. He has always had a passion for birds of prey, but barn owls in particular. He had a fabulous 2 hour bird experience with Mr Pip the barn owl, spending time with such beautiful and well kept animals in their natural habitat was a complete priviledge and with Chris the owner and his excellent staff on hand to give you the background on all the birds there, it was also educational. They explained that all the birds were there for different reasons, some rescued after injury, others handed in as their owners couldn't keep them anymore, others have been bred there, but they were all stunningly beautiful and very well looked after, it was evident that the birds wellbeing was paramount. The experience is as advertised, a walk on the wild side, its not a zoo, it is back to nature in its simple beauty. My mum and I had the treat of joining everyone on their 'walk on the wildside' and we left feeling priviledged to have been able to share such a wonderful calm and peaceful experience. We left with the upmost respect and gratitude for Chris and all his staff and their passion for caring and preserving all the different varieties of birds in their care was evident. This is a unique experience and a must for nature lovers. We will definitely visit again.

“Beautiful birds - strange owner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

We took some friends to visit the centre in May, the birds are well looked after although it's sad to see them tethered to posts. They are mostly rescued birds so to set them free would be cruel so I understand the need for this, it's just sad to see. The grounds are nice, but the owner/manager seemed a bit odd, might just have been in a bad mood on the day of course.

“Brilliant time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

We had this as a special offer on travel zoo and were not to sure what to expect. It was fabulous. The experience started with a talk then we ( there was 11 in the group which was about right) chose the bird we wanted to hold. I choose a Harris Hawk and was not disapointed Harry the harris hawk was the perfect gent. We had a walk through the woods carrying the birds then a talk about how the birds arrived at the centre followed by another walk and then another walk followed by the chance to fly an owl, A very interesting and enjoyable couple of hours. The staff are all volunteers and are very dedicated.

“Owl's That!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

We cannot believe the negativity of some of the reviews. The facilities for visitors are undoubtedly basic but the birds are kept in very clean conditons and appear in excellent health. The passionate staff obviously care a lot about the birds and their welfare and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. The experience included a walk through the woods with a bird of your choice, background on each of the individual birds and an exciting Hawk flying display.Despite visiting on a freezing cold day we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to any sensible adults with an interest in getting close to birds of prey in a natural environment.
