“Beautiful birds - strange owner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

We took some friends to visit the centre in May, the birds are well looked after although it's sad to see them tethered to posts. They are mostly rescued birds so to set them free would be cruel so I understand the need for this, it's just sad to see. The grounds are nice, but the owner/manager seemed a bit odd, might just have been in a bad mood on the day of course.

“Brilliant time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

We had this as a special offer on travel zoo and were not to sure what to expect. It was fabulous. The experience started with a talk then we ( there was 11 in the group which was about right) chose the bird we wanted to hold. I choose a Harris Hawk and was not disapointed Harry the harris hawk was the perfect gent. We had a walk through the woods carrying the birds then a talk about how the birds arrived at the centre followed by another walk and then another walk followed by the chance to fly an owl, A very interesting and enjoyable couple of hours. The staff are all volunteers and are very dedicated.

“Owl's That!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

We cannot believe the negativity of some of the reviews. The facilities for visitors are undoubtedly basic but the birds are kept in very clean conditons and appear in excellent health. The passionate staff obviously care a lot about the birds and their welfare and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. The experience included a walk through the woods with a bird of your choice, background on each of the individual birds and an exciting Hawk flying display.Despite visiting on a freezing cold day we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to any sensible adults with an interest in getting close to birds of prey in a natural environment.

“One of the best days out ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Crikey - where to start. Firstly thank you Chris and Reece, you care so much for these beautiful creatures and that shows.
Ok, well let's be brutal - if you want to see animals in sterile non-natural conditions or through plates of glass don't go.
If you want fancy coffee shop tea and cake don't go.
If you want the latest in loo facilities don't go.
If you want a stuffed-up be-suited host don't go.
If you want an over-priced ridiculous souvenir shop don't go.
HOWEVER if you want to see beautiful creatures in a natural woodland setting, be offered tea (when Reece put the kettle on) and payment by honesty box in a cosy little cabin - Go there.
If you aren't too snooty about the eco-loo in the car park - after all it *is* in a wood and there *is* hand-wash available - Go there.
If you want to meet a rather humble man to whom the animals and birds and treasures - Go there.
The knowledge is boundless, the animals are clean and happy. They would try to hide themselves if unhappy or scared whereas these are really show-offs. Chris has a rather dry sense of humour and some may take this the wrong way. I however really liked the man. On face value you get what you see, recycled materials used to build housing, a beautiful woodland setting. But open your eyes, your ears and your heart and there is much, much more on offer.
Personally, I think Morticia is lovely - even if no-one else does. Indie, my little pal for the walk was such a joy. He is a cheeky litte chap and such a personality. Sky - my husband's walk-frend was beautiful.
The hands-on demonstration with the Hawk (Hur) is breathtaking - silence isn't the word. No wonder their prey doesn't stand a chance.
Try to visit this place, you won't be disappointed. If you have a bird-walk booked, allow yourself about an hour before or after to see all the wonderful occupants. I am a wheelchair user and would have managed round all the enclosures but not on the walk.

“In natural grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is the place to see owls and falconry and to hold them too, with expert staff to support you and guidance. See the woodlands and grounds natural, but need wellies if wet.
The owls and falconry birds are well looked after and given time to fly, go and see for yourselves and enjoy I know I did and will go again.
