My wife and i stayed her for 2 nights on June 8th and 9th as part of a civil wedding reception. First impressions were very good. Lovely old style hotel set in immaculate gardens in a quite beatiful location.
Our one and only gripe would be that we think £85 is a bit pricey for the tiny room we had. But having said that, the room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. And maybe a bit more pressure on the shower would help. These are trivial complaints which were more than compensated for by all the excellent qualities at The Old Court Hotel.
Our favourite was retiring to the little snug in the evenings and relaxing with a glass of wine or two.
On the day of the wedding a large reception was held and the food was truely fantastic. Helped along by very efficient staff, who were always smiling and polite, WELL DONE!!!
We hope to return to this area in the near future and would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

So pleased you enjoyed the weekend celebrating your friends civil partnership. Thank you for your comments and views. Our room prices have stayed the same for many years (with the exception of the 20% VAT increase) - we try to offer our 3 for 2 deal year round to compensate for the small size of our standard rooms. However I am happy you had a comfortable nights sleep - as this is one of the main issues for people staying in hotels these days!

We didn't stay here as only live around the corner, we had visited the hedge puzzle with our 4 yr old and decided to stop off and eat as looks like a beautiful place. We sat out in the garden as lovely afternoon/evening. Ordered our food even though prices seemed over the top but thought why not as a treat!! We ordered chicken nuggets and chips, pate, and prawns as a starter, then a steak and a fish pasta dish ( next table to me sent theirs back as tasteless but everyone has different tastes) till hadn't sent order through to kitchen which is fine as these things happen, but was really disappointed by the starters!!!! Pate was not set properly underneath, salad garnish had seen better days and the battered prawns were fried to death!!! We then waited for 40 mins for mains, steak was ok but tepid,The 'mushrooms' were burnt to a crisp!!!!( shocked they sent them out!!) salad again was past it, pasta was good but a little watery. We ordered at half 6 and didn't leave till nearly 9pm!!!! Our assistant managers tried here last night ( they didn't know about our past experience, wished we'd told them now!) they ended up leaving without paying as service and food was so bad. !!! Such a shame as it's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location !!!

Thank you for your feedback...being a local I am surprised that you did not speak to us directly about the issue (as your assistant managers did when they came). The night in question was extremely busy (a sunday night) we did over 130 covers in 90 minutes (normally 40ish), plus our till system which produces the orders failed and therefore tickets did not get communicated to the kitchen. I take on board your comments but find some anomolies, for example your score for our rooms 1/5 when you did not stay at the hotel! Please accept my apologies for your disappointment, as a local pub owner only a couple of miles away it would be easy, and I would be happy, to talk about this in more detail in person if you would like! Generally our feedback has been of a good and high standard - in particular on booking.com where customers have to have stayed and paid prior to leaving feedback!

On arrival parked with plenty of room in car park. Reception provided a very warm welcome and explained the hotel arrangements. Our room was very comfortable if a bit on the small side but they have many types of room some with four posters so ask.

Our bed was quite the most comfortable we have slept in away from home. Well Done OCH. The bed linen and bathroom towels were very fresh and in plentiful supply.

A Porter or Bellboy to carry our cases upstairs would have helped us greatly. Perhaps help is available but we did not see anyone.

Downstairs the hotel is charming, just what we like, olde world, lots of places to sit including a very nice conservatory. We sat outside on the terrace in beautiful oak garden chairs and big tables under the stars, magical. Later we sat in the grass garden area, which was just as comfortable. Table service all day.

Now the food - Breakfast is cooked to order - it was beautiful, tasty and of very good portions. Not much on offer for low calorie, vegan or veggie as local eggs are offered with most options. Everyone spoke well of the cooked breakfast. Minus points are pappy ugh bread and limited fresh fruit. But that would be harsh. Special diets need advising we would suggest.

Lunch was really great, our sandwiches were very full of filling and really fresh quality bread (why not offer this at breakfast??) . Chips were fantastic. All highly recommended and an excellent price. Meals on offer were displayed on chalk board in the bar.

Dinner was its equal. Excellent quality salmon steaks with lots of fresh veg. We liked the cheese board of local cheeses that beg further investigation. We left the table most content.

Bar served everything but its beer was Wye Valley Bitter an excellent choice and recommended.

We departed having had a wonderful weekend at OCH - thanks to everyone for looking after us so well.

5 minute walk to church and riverside. A beautiful location.

Room Tip: Ask for the Four Posters!

We have just returned from our second stay at this hotel.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and had booked
a four poster room.Upon our arrival, we were lucky enough to have
been upgraded to a suite(with a 4 poster).!
There is nothing to fault this hotel at all...the setting if brilliant, the
rooms immaculate and the people very welcoming and friendly.
As for the food- it is wonderful. We would recommend the main
dinning room for a romantic meal at night...the quality of the food
is excellent.Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Why do we keep coming back? Good old fashioned service along with excellent food to suit all tastes. Highly recommended either for staying or just calling by for a meal.
