Spent one night here over August bank holiday. Booking in not allowed too early. Had to come back later when room ready, which was right at the top of two stair cases but not a bad size room. Power shower in en suite. Clean. Ate in the restaurant at night, food good and reasonable. Breakfast included and also good. Good value. Lively in the bar at night and central location to shops and walk around river. Enjoyable.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your short stay with us. We are sorry your room was not quite ready when you arrived. Guests are always most welcome to check in before our standard time of 2.30pm, if of course their room is ready. As check out is 11am and it takes over an hour to properly service a room it's just not possible to have every room ready early. We do strongly recommend that anyone planning to arrive early asks for an early check in, well in advance, so that we can prioritise their room. To 100% guarantee a room being available before 2.30, we recommend booking the prior night. We can often offer a discount on the room rate for two night stays, if booked direct with the hotel. Thank you again

Stayed here on route between meetings. The Hotel is nicely situated in the town with its own carpark. The room we had was very good, on the first floor although a tad expensive for what it was. The hotel/pub has been around for a while so some nice wood beams etc. Floors creaked but that only added to the character & charm.

Food was excellent with good size portions & the beer even better.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a table if you want to eat at the hotel.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Thought the hotel is old and quaint, which is what we wanted the rooms are a nice size and the bathroom is more modern and it's all very clean.
Great food for breakfast and also in the restaurant was outstanding for the evening meal.

Summing up - this is one hard to beat character hotel. We stayed two nights Excellent accommodation.Free bottled water plus a good choice of tea/coffee in the room Food, breakfasts and dinners were outstanding for both choice, service and quality.
Car park - clear map from hotel website is helpful first time. Room 10 is light and spacious though it does front onto the main street so with a window open it is susceptible to morning passing traffic noise. Neat in size very stylish, attractive, modern en-suite( with shower).
Hotel provides free WiFi
Staff very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is privately owned and is old and quaint. The room was clean as was the bathroom. Service is excellent and the breakfast well above average. The Kings Head has improved enormously and the current owners have done a great job.

The location is right in the middle of the market town of Ross-on-Wye, which has seen better days. Parking can be difficult and it might be easier to use the public car park which is behind the hotel.

this hotel was a great base for meeting up with friends - the website and other reviews do mention the steep stairs, and yes they are - but this is an old coaching inn so that is part of the charm.
The rooms are a good size, but the weekend we stayed it was very warm and the rooms took quite some cooling down - the room i stayed in was at the rear of the hotel so fine to leave the windows open. Look at it this way - they will be really cosy when its cold outside.
The beds were very comfy with the best pillows ever (i want them in my home!) so a really good nights sleep.
The bar does get busy (both locals and hotel guests) - a good sign.
Breakfast was excellent - in fact possibly too much if you are going for the full English.
Other than the steep stairs be aware that if you are parking at the hotel there is limited parking to the rear, and it is a really tight turn into the car park off the high street - if you have a long or high car be prepared.

Room Tip: Ross seems to be the centre of weddings in this area... so if you are going at the weekend i would b...

Stopped here for a couple of nights. Really impressed as staff very nice and food in restaurant on our first night was fantastic. Both my wife and I thought our meals were cooked to perfection. Service excellent at all times. Room comfortable although a little warm at night but fan helped. Overall a really great time and worth staying or if not certainly have a meal here.

Room Tip: We stopped in a room on top floor which was very warm due to the hot days we experienced. However th...
