“Dog Friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Brilliant hotel and very dog friendly. When you own a dog its very hard to find a hotel or B&B that will welcome dogs with open arms. This one did. Just because you bring your dog, please dont think you will be placed in a sub standard room, this is not the case, the room was lovely and you would not have ever quessed dogs had been staying there. Dogs are allowed to stay with you in your room and also are allowed in the bar and lounge, the only place they cannot go is the restaurant, however dogs can stay in your room while you nip downstairs for dinner or breakfast or accompany you in the lounge or bar if you prefer. The hotel is very convienient for Ross on Wye town centre, its on your doorstep and the river Wye is not too far away, a great haven for dog walkers. On the whole excellent, food and hospitallity alike. Please refer to my blog on FB called Teddys Touring Tales. This is one of my featured hotels.

Stayed here over the bank holiday weekend. Friendly and helpful staff, lovely views from our window, good food (especially the creme brulee!) and a quirky staircase....what more do you need? Would definitely stay here again.

Just as we had hoped for. Our family room felt very luxurious and came with the unknown joy that it was in fact two interconnecting rooms with a fabulously refurbished bathroom. The children particularly enjoyed the internal shelf and their own TV! Excellent attention to detail such as a good kettle, fresh water, and funky blue lights in the shower. Spotlessly clean.
The bar had a lovely ambience helped by a choice of ales of course. Dinner was delicious. The evening staff were extremely attentive. They couldn't do enough for us. Certainly highly recommended and next time we are in Ross on Wye we hope to book the same room.

Room Tip: The family room is really two connecting rooms - like a mini suite. Fantastic!

Stayed at this hotel for the weekend, found it very clean and comfortable. Good location not far from the River. Had meal in restaurant first nigh - t excellent so we booked in second night - even better! The seafood sharing platter for starter was the best ever! Very good breakfast as well. Friendly staff, good service. Will return! Negative points - steep stairs to rooms and tight entrance to car park but it is an old building!

Visited this hotel today for lunch. First class food and first class service. We have stayed at this hotel in the past too. The hotel is wooden floors and beams, spotlessly clean. The food is excellent, what more can I say. You will not be disappointed.

Having conquered the ludicrous one way system in Ross and parked in the car park (narrow entrance that concentrates the mind) we had a very enjoyable 2 night B & B stay. Rooms well furnished and a super refurbished ensuite shower with blue mood lighting. We ate in their restaurant on the Friday night. A bit expensive but quality was good and house wine more than acceptable and not too expensive. Waiting staff attentative, pleasant and cared as to whether we were enjoying our meal. Special thanks to Magda. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and not a heat lamp in sight. Plenty of choice including fish. All in all well done Kings Head more tha happy to recommend you and if we stay in Ross on Wye again, we know where to come.

Both my partner and I had a very nice meal here, my girlfriend had the steak pie (just a pie top, a full pie please) and I had the fresh battered fish. The meal itself was lovely and also wine and a decent pint of ale. The service was very good and the staff friendly. 2 meals with chips and vegetable with 2 drinks came to £28, I thought that was good. The location was very good and the atmosphere good as well.

Thank you for your review.

We are really pleased both you and your partner enjoyed your meals, drinks and service at the King's Head Hotel.

Our Steak and Wye Valley ale pie is very popular. It is prepared fresh in our kitchen and cooked to order in a classic oven pie dish with a puff pastry top. The steak is local Herefordshire beef with Wye Valley bitter in the gravy.

At present the time taken from being ordered to being cooked, then presented and served to a guest takes around 25-30 minutes. Unfortunately, adding pastry to the sides and bottom as well as the top would inevitably result in the dish taking prohibitively long to serve. Especially as this dish is served both for lunch and dinner.

Thank you again for your review.
