“Romantic Evening Away”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

We had the chance of a night away so quickly looked through laterooms for somewhere in Ross. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the the Bridge House still had availability due to its high scores and it being Christmas. The owners, Elena and Darren have taken a lot of time and effort to get the gorgeous property to a fantastic standard of elegance and comfort. They absolutely deserve to do well, the welcome we had was first class and the room was outstanding, the decor was lovely, the view was amazing and the bed was really comfy!!

Room Tip: It is worth paying that little extra for a view of the river wye, it really makes your stay extra sp...

We stayed for a weekend in August. If you are looking for a top quality bed and breakfast in the Ross on Wye area you need to look no further than The Bridge House. Lovingly restored and beautifully decorated throughout with so many little touches that make this property stand out. Darren and Elena are warm and friendly hosts. The freshly cooked breakfast was amazing and there were plenty of fresh fruits and preserves available too. Fantastic location overlooking the river.

The bedroom was spotlessly clean, the room spacious, the bed comfortable with gorgeous luxurious bedding – it really was the best couple of nights sleep I have ever had away from home. The roll top bath and fluffy towels were another plus. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with fresh milk and yummy biscuits.

Car parking is available to the rear of the property and the garden has a beautiful view over the river. Town is a 10 minute walk away. We used a local taxi company whose details we found in the reception area - the drivers were courteous, service prompt and reasonable rates too. We also used the pub over the road which has a lovely beer garden onto the river. Food was normal pub fayre but was good.

We can not recommend The Bridge House enough and would definitely book again if we were in the area.

Bridge House is absolutely lovely. Its a beautifuly restored Georgian House situated by the river on the edge of Ross on Wye. Our room (5) overlooks the river, is tasteful and extremely comfortable. Great bed and very good quality bedclothes. The bathroom with its freestanding bath is divine, has nice toiletries, if you like to wallow this is for you. Another plus is fresh milk instead of those horrid little plastic tubs. Our breakfast was excellent. Ross on Wye is a lovely old town & Bridge House is a great base to explore the area. Host Darren & Elena are very charming & we wish them every success.

A lot of hard work has been (and is still being) put in to renovating and updating this beautifully located property. The bedroom (6) is spacious, tasteful and extremely comfortable, the bathroom is one to linger in and the communal areas are of the same standard. The Hosts are warm and welcoming, the breakfast was excellent and I look forward to having an opportunity to return in the future.

We stayed here over a Friday and Saturday night. Everything was perfect; the room, the view, the breakfast and even the weather (well on Saturday anyway!). It was also very reassuring being able topark our car at the back of the house and not on a street.
The town of Ross-on-Wye was at most an easy, safe and well-lit walk along the river. We enjoyed the variety of small shops and cafes. We also went to Symonds Yat and onto the cycle paths in the Forest of Dean.
Darren and Elena are super hosts and we would recmmend this B &B to anyone.

Room Tip: Room Six overlooked the river and the castle ruins and was lovely and quiet with a great cast-iron b...

Absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend. The previous reviews speak for themselves but what I will add is that nothing seems to much trouble for this lovely couple. We had to leave early this morning, didnt ask but Darren very kindly, moved the breakfast time forward for us, something I didn't really expect but very much appreciated. Also I love the attention to detail, when we arrived we were made to feel really welcome and offered a cup of tea/coffee (despite having facilities in the room) The tray arrived with two cafetieres, a jug of warm milk, a bowl of mixed sugar lumps with tongs and some lovely biscuits - it's little things like that, and there were lots of other examples, that make an already fabulous place extra special. Can't wait to go back.
