Lovely old place with beautiful gardens and riverside setting. Our room was extremely attractive under the eves and with a river view. Very clean. Staff were pleasant, especially Kerry and a young bartender and the food was fine. I had crab with avocado puree , then lamb with sweetbreads (and the sweetbreads were delicious.) The wine was very good value I thought. Breakfast was less than amusing as we were removed from the table we settled into and where we'd sat at the night before - everyone else was sitting back at their previous tables - to be told "I've put you guys here", indicating another table further into the conservatory which I'm sure was deemed to be nicer but was in fact extremely bright and blindingly sunny. We waited over 40 minutes for our cooked breakfast because " everyone had come down at the same time " - which was true.

stayed for 2 nights at the wilton. the location is stunning. the owners and staff were very pleasant but not in your face. the food is stunning. were going to eat in ross the 2nd night but ended going back to the hotel to their restaurant. its not cheap but you get what you pay for. highly recommend for adults who want to get away from it all. enjoy

We did a last minute reservation for just two days but ended up staying 3 !! The food, the welcome, the comfort and the very very helpful owners made our break more of a pleasure than we can say. We hope to return soon.

The Wilton Court is an Elizabethan building with some modern add ons that blend in well. It is just outside the town of Ross On Wye which is a 10 minute walk away and has gardens that go down to the River Wye
We stayed in 2 rooms - the family room which is two separate bedrooms with bathroom in a suite arrangement and the 4 poster bedroom. Both were extremely comfortable and sympathecially decorated. We were slightly disappointed with the bathroom in the 4 poster room which was huge but had a suite that was too moder. We didnt allow this to detract from our enjoyment of the room though.
The restaurant is in an extension and conservatory and the food all locally sourced. We stayed for 3 nights and there was no change to the menu which was very rich and did not cater particularly well for vegitarians - a special of the day for those eating on more than one night would be a nice touch (but there is plenty of choice in the town). Breakfasts were hearty and the food was freshly prepared, hot and plentiful.
My only real criticism is that, despite proudly using local produce which was often organic, the milk in the bedrooms was the worse kind of UHT so even the great Twinings tea didn't do it for us!

We have just had a family celebration for 20 over a weekend, and all of our guests have had nothing but good words to say about the hotel, its food, its location & especially the care & attention to all our needs given by Helen, Roger & all the staff at Wilton Court. The Hotel itself is a delight if you are looking for a genuine "English Country Hotel", overlooking the river & being steeped in history with panelled rooms, splendid & comfortable bedrooms (& pet friendly), pleasant grounds (with mulberry tree) & genuinely quality local produce and tasty food, all for an economical price (that's not a hint to put your prices up, Helen, if you read this!). If you are considering this Hotel, either for a family party or a weekend break, touring some of the most beautiful "Shire County" countryside in Britain, we can wholeheartedly recommend it to you.

I have been visiting Wilton Court for a few years now and it has never disappointed me. I pop in for lunch with a few friends and enjoy the excellent food with a view of the Wye river. On this visit I had the duck and followed through with the cold cherry crumble. The wine list has something for everyone, service was impeccable and the atmosphere in this charming hotel has to be savored. I would highly recommend a visit. Booking for lunch may not alway be necessary but I believe that it is polite to do so.

My wife and I stayed in Ross for three days in July 2009 as part of a mini Summer 'tour' of Middle England.

Although our half board deal at Wilton Court was a little more than we had originally planned to spend, in our opinion it was well worth the money.

We had a River view room and the view across to Ross itself was just wonderful. The riverside setting of the hotel is tremendous, and if you want a change of surroundings for an evening drink, then the White Lion pub is literally yards away and makes for a pleasant change.

The food at the Wilton was of an excellent standard, with the only very minor grumble being that there were no additional specials to the standard menu. Even so, the choice was still superb and we tried something different each night and were not disappointed.
I noted other people's comments about breakfast being served on cold plates, but we didn't notice this, so perhaps that previous complaint has been addressed. In any case, our breakfasts were brilliant.

The service was also excellent and we found all of the staff to be very friendly and they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

There is a very pleasant walk into Ross alongside the river that takes no more than 15 minutes and the 'must see' Symond's Yat rock is just 10 - 15 minutes away by car.

All in all, we didn't spot anywhere else in Ross during our stay that made us think 'We wish we had stayed there instead!'

We would definitely go to Wilton Court again.
