“Great pub food”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

we eat here regularly and, from time to time, try another pub in the area just for a change. Don't really know why we bother because you cannot beat the Cross Keys for excellent pub food and great value in the Ross on Wye area. It's not surprising that they are always so busy. The steak on a stone is particularly good and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

“Local country pub”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We called into the Cross Keys on a Friday around 2.00 p.m. for a late lunch. After ordering our drinks I noticed there were no Menus on the tables. I asked a member of the bar staff where they were and she pointed to their location by the door. However she failed to mention that there was a also a Specials Board at the far end of the Bar from where we were sitting and a Light Bite Menu Board by the door. Not very user friendly. We ordered our meal and couldn't believe the portion size! For someone like me who has a smaller appetite it was a bit off-putting. The food was home made but for a lunch time visit I felt the cost was on the high side. For a lunch time visit I would have preferred the option of purchasing a smaller portion for a smaller price as I am sure there is a lot of food waste! There were only two other couples in the pub so not a lot of atmosphere. If you have a massive appetite this is the place for you!

“Hearty Pub Grub”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

I recently visited the Cross Keys on a week day evening with a group of 9 other diners, we had a great evening, loads of food and the portions as usual were plentiful. The owner greeted us as we arrived and made sure we were all looked after well, lovely to have a well run pub with great food right on our doorstep
