“Noise”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2009

It seemed like a lovely place to stay and the room looked like it would be nice. The noise from the road wasn't too bad. But the noise from the water system was loud and kept us awake all night - we stayed in room 9 so avoid this room or ones near it at all costs. It was really loud noise in our room and on the corridor just outside the room.

We attempted to alert the staff to our problem and see if there was a room we could move to but in the night there was no on on duty, the door to the reception was locked and there was no phone in our room. We mentioned the problem the next day when we checked out but we just got a bog standard we will look into this.

This was my second visit. It reminded me of a country pub with accomodation. It is located on a B road near the river with fantastic views across the valley.
As well as the rooms in the main building, there are a line of chalet style rooms off the car park. I didn't get the chance to see what these were like although they looked OK from outside.
The staff were very friendly, and will gladly recommend places to visit and give directions.
The place had been redecorated and had a few changes since my last visit. The decor and carpets were clean and new and the rooms were spotless.
The restaurant was a little more expensive than you would find in a town. but a good selection of food and a nice breakfast, although not massive portions.
The only negative for me was an annoying noise from the plumbing. It was there all the time, but at night when all the background noise dies down it is very noticeable. I was in Room 9, and at 12 second intervals, there is a flushing noise from the pipework that lasts for 7 seconds. I know because I lay there at night timing it.
I was pleased with the cost-less than a Premier lodge with a breakfast too.
Would recommend to anyone.

This was a last minute booking on our way down to Cardiff we knew we would be arriving late but it wasnt a problem. On arrival we were so pleased we had choosen Inn-On-The-Wye a real gem with superb views
Our double room was very reasonably priced .The room was large and comfortable.
The staff were very helpful and the whole place was spotless.
There was a power cut at breakfast time but staff were very informative and served cereals and coffee and promised cooked breakfast when power came back on ,we were in no hurry so it didnt cause us a problem .Power was soon back on and breakfast was worth waiting for.
Will definitively return for longer stay beautiful part of the country and would like to explore the area more.

We had a large room with 4 poster bed and great views. The staff were really friendly, and welcomed our dog.

Would we go back again? Try stopping us.

Just stayed over the weekend at the Inn on the Wye. When we arrived on Saturday late afternoon there was no-one about apart from the young lady in the bar who showed us to our room which turned out to contain a Four Poster bed.
As we had a long walk behind us we headed for the bar to replenish the liquids we had lost whilst walking to Ross on Wye and back and again, we fond that we were the only guests in the bar.
The picture changed in the evening when we went down for dinner, the restaurant and the bar were buzzing and fully booked.
The dinner was excellent with a good choice of meals and the prices quite reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and a few drinks afterwards in the bar.
The room itself was quite spacious, it did not have a bath but just a shower which was fine but we found it very curious that the taps on the basin were the wrong way round with the hot water tap on the right and the cold water tap on the left and it was the first time that you had to turn the tap anti-clockwise for on and clockwise for off.
When I paid my bill the next morning I was charged £20.00 extra for the room and when I questioned it they told me that this was the charge for the Four Poster room. I pointed out that this was their choice and not mine and they quickly removed the extra charge without any further question.
Would I go again. Yes I definitively would and gladly recommend the Inn on the Wye to any future traveller to the Wye Valley, which is an excellent area for walking and sightseeing.

We have just returned from a very pleasant evening away at The Inn On The Wye. We had a nice room with a large four poster bed and with superb views over the river to Goodrich Castle.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast (a very wholesome and freshly made `full English`). Altogether we had a super time at a very reasonable price. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a simple, inexpensive no-nonsense hotel in a beautiful setting.
