My wife & I have just spent 2 nights at Orle's Barn & I have to say it was fabulous, we were warmly greeted by Richard (the owner) & William & Twiglet ( their 2 charming dogs) we were promptly shown to our room which was delightful & then offered tea & coffee in the lounge/bar.
I do not have a very high opinion of hotel accommodation in the UK but Richard & his wife Kelly have changed all that, they are a breath of fresh air.
an important part of any holiday or short break for us is the food we eat & this is definitely a 5 star restaurant with rooms not a Hotel with a Restaurant serving the usual pre prepared bland food. Dan their chef deserves a mention; his menu is a revelation & his skill & creativity first class and a Michelin star should not be too far away, the breakfast is first class, probably the best bacon & sausage I have ever tasted all sourced from local suppliers.
You will not find a nicer place to stay, run by wonderfully friendly owners (and staff) who are passionate about what they do & are getting it right. The UK needs more places like this.
Thank god for people like Richard & Kelly.
We will be back.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel for lunch we were made to feel completely welcome. Richard and Kelly have a relaxed attentive style, nothing was too much trouble.
The elegant, comfortable furniture and decor fit perfectly into the house and garden. The views from the dining room are lovely. Special mention must go to the chef who has prepared the finest food, locally sourced and perfectly cooked. I could go on and on about this place. Having lived in Ross for 15 years and eaten in nearly every restaurant and pub I can honestly say that this is the best. Caroline Bennett

Spent the last week travelling around England and Orles Barn was by far the best for food, the room and service. This is especially good when considering it was the cheapest night we had during the week. Would throughly recommend it as a venue.

I stayed here for two nights with my husband, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This was a real find. Tastefully updated throughout. Our room was delightful (I even made a note of the paint colour - sad I know) with old beams and a free standing bath in the bedroom. The food was superb. I particularly liked the bacon and I overheard someone saying they were the best scrambled eggs they'd ever had. The host was a charming chap; friendly and willing to have a chat, but he didn't intrude. He even stopped us in Hereford after we left when he recognised usthere . Many people would choose not to bother after guests had left. This really is a lovely place to stay. Only one point to be wary of - the exit from the road can be a little scarey when it's busy.

We celebrated my husband's birthday with a meal at Orles Barn. From the outset we were made very welcome by Richard and his staff and throughout the evening nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb! The restaurant has been placed high on our list of priorities of places to eat in Ross

Our stay was excellent from start to finish. It really is like home from home; such a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

The food is quite simply outstanding. The Chocolate and Cherries desert is so good, I've enjoyed it 3 times in 4 stays!! We also enjoyed the scallops, the chicken ballontine, the beef fillet.... the list goes on!

The room was tastefully decorated, emphasising the homely feeling. It was peaceful and quiet and ensured a lovely night's sleep.

Breakfast is equally relaxed and an excellent start to the day. Some of the freshest, tastiest ingredients we have had anywhere.

A real delight, thank you very much.

An absolutely lovely place to stay, just a 15 minute walk into Ross-on-Wye, along the river & through the park. Get the best of both worlds with a warm welcome from a small team of staff who are like a 'family' - but benefit from a service equal to a top-class hotel. Dan, the Chef, presents you with meals comparable to those created on 'MasterChef'. There is a good selection of wine to choose from without breaking the bank. Comfortable rooms which have recently been renovated and decorated in a style in-keeping with the lovely 17th Century building. An ideal place for a short break or a special meal - highly recommended.
