“Great for wet day”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

This is one of the few indoor attractions in the area and we visited because it was pouring with rain. We were very glad we did - it was a real experience with butterflies of all kinds flying free and plenty of information to read. We also saw butterflies emerging from the chrysalis and a variety of caterpillars. The staff were attentive and helpful and although it was very busy this did not detract from our enjoyment. Do take a camera, wonderful shots to be had, but beware of your lens misting up due to the warm, humid atmosphere. If it had not rained, we might not have visited here and we would have really missed out.

“Something different!!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

My partner and I took my parents here after lunch in the nearby Old Court Hotel, as we fancied doing "something different". Once inside the shop, which is the start of the "experience", you are left wondering where you have to go to see the butterflies! But all is revealed once you request tickets at the till points. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, and gave us leaflets about the various breeds and species within, also a magnifying glass!! The shop itself was a bit pricey, so if taking children, it's probably best to set a budget before entering!!
Inside was like being in a tropical jungle, the humidity is high but not unbearable. The sight of the beautiful butterflies soon have you forgetting the heat!! Some of them landed on us, but mostly we spent the time just watching them fly gracefully around the pretty plants and bushes. We also saw caterpillars and chrysalis forming, wonderful!! A place I would highly recommend, especially for children as it was not only beautiful but educational.

“Walking with butterflies (and caterpillars)”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

There are several places like this around the country but this is up there with the best. Even our 8 month old grandchild thought it fascinating!

“Fantastic experience”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Although quite ordinary-looking from the outside, once you get into the butterfly rooms, everything changes! There are beautiful plants and trees where the butterflies fly free around you, sometimes even landing on you! Lots of wonderful photo-opportunitiesi if this is your thing. It was a pouring-wet day when I went.. I actually forgot all about the weather whilst inside, and had quite a surprise on exiting a couple of hours later. Was pleasantly surprised when offered an umbrella to get me across the grounds to the garden centre!
