We rented 3 bungalows between 4 couples and spent 2 days canoeing the Wye which was wonderful. The scenery is amazing an d so peaceful. All bungalows very well equipped and we were lucky enough to have great weather so could BBQ and spend all evening outside. Would love to return for a walking holiday next time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dance weekend. The hotel is set in the most beautiful suroundings on the River Wye. The hotel seems to only cater for weekends and days out. The food was very good and plenty of it, however we would haved liked to have had perhaps a sandwich at lunchtime or a bowl of soup. This did not detract from the pleasure of our break as just a short walk from the hotel along the river we came to the Ferry Inn which served lunches. For us the main feature of the hotel was the wonderful ballroom, very large, light and airy, perfect for dancing.
The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent.
If anyone is interested in kayaking, Symonds Yat is the perfect place.

We have just returned from a dance weekend at the Paddocks Hotel in Symonds Yat. Along with, it seems, most reviewers we had a good time. We stayed in a bungalow which is part of a terrace of similar accommodation and I think these are probably the best option. The bungalow was spacious, very clean and well equipped. With tables and chairs outside the room it is a very sociable setting overlooking the countryside. We even had deer in the fiels in front of us at one stage. The hotel is quite old now but the staff keep both the fabric of the building and the grounds in good condition. Water pressure seems to be an ongoing problem, but there is no shortage and the hot water didn't run out as it seems to do with many other older properties.

The meals we had in the restaurant were of a good quality, home style cooking, well prepared and presented. Meal times are a bit rigid and I suspect that if you turned up for breakfast at 9.00 am you would be unlucky. However as we were a reasonably large group who all wanted to eat together this wasn't a particular problem for us. All the staff we met were excellent and served our meals in a friendly, relaxed and efficient manner. I was a little surprised to find out that no lunches are served at the hotel but with two excellent pubs within walking distance it wasn't a problem, however we had fine warm weather - if it had been raining a walk to the pub would have been a whole different experience.

The ballroom is excellent, a great floor and very large.

Overall a great stay and we will go back next year.

Room Tip: Try to get a bungalow!!

spent weekend 1st june at the paddocks hotel , just a short walk from symonds yat so a great place to stay if visiting.
The hotel is basic however very clean and food is home cooking at best. bottle of wine ave £15
Shower in the room was very very poor and needs upgrading.
If you like dancing and or walking then the Paddocks is a great place stay.

24th-27th May inclusive - This was our 3rd visit to The Paddocks on a dancing weekend break with friends and needless to say we've already booked to return again in Sept and January. Everything about the hotel is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! We cannot say anything negative about this hotel. An extremely relaxing location, food wonderful, staff extremely attentive and of course the weather this weekend was a bonus! My husband and myself returned home extremely relaxed are looking forward to returning in September.

Room Tip: We have stayed in rooms overlooking both sides of the hotel but the views over the gardens are stunning.
