We booked a bargain break (3 nights) at the last minute to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The booking process over the phone was very straightforward and the receptionist answered all our initial queries honestly and helpfully. The hotel itself is beautiful, set in lovely gardens, with a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The decor is classy without being formal or stuffy. The staff are most welcoming and attentive. Our room and ensuite were clean and set out to a high standard. The food in Harry's restaurant was of a consistently high quality during our stay with keen attention paid to taste and presentation. The chef went out of his way to create a dish for my wife which was not even on the menu. There was a wedding function taking place on the Saturday night but this did not intrude on our special weekend at all. If anything, the animated atmosphere made our evening all the more enjoyable. A wonderful three day break - we would happily recommend this hotel in terms of quality, service and value.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Chase and both visits have been most enjoyable. Excellent hotel, exceptionally clean, fantastic food, friendly and attentive staff, lovely gardens. A most relaxing break.

Stayed at The Chase for one short night on business. The room was a twin room. The beds seemed very short for my 6ft 2 but this might have been to do with very "plump" pillows. Large bathroom but not much shelf space. Plenty of wardrobe and draw space. Breakfast was a very large full English.

We stayed at the Chase for 3 nights in May 2005. Having read the reviews on 'Trip Advisor 'we had high expectations. However, on arrival we found that we had been allocated a room (19), which overlooked the inner service core. This meant that we had no view, but worst of all we had jet aircraft level noise from a large extractor vent from the hotel kitchens just outside of the window. The noise was loud, even with the windows shut - and with the windows open the smells from the extractor were intolerable. We complained immediately - but were told no other rooms were available. Resigned to our lot, we retired to our romm at 10pm, but the noise continued until midnight - and started at 7am next day. Fortunately we were able to switch rooms for the rest of our stay - otherwise we would have left the hotel and stayed elsewhere. Be warned - when you book ensure your room will not face the inner core - room 19 is fit only for storage in my view.

Apart from this problem the Hotel, staff and meals were excellent.

We stayed on an all-inclusive break here which was excellent value. The price we paid meant that the room was free. Last time we stayed, 8 years ago, the rooms were tired but the food was fantastic. This time we found that the rooms had new bathroom and bedroom furniture, and all was freshly decorated. This did not however detract from the charm of an old hotel with sloping floors. The only drawback was no lift, but at least we walked off the calories from our meals by having to walk to our room on the top floor. The food, as before, was out of this world, plenty of it, and unusual. Service attentive. Entertainment... hot air ballons set off from the hotel grounds. It was a two minute walk into town which was featuring a european market where alll the stall holders were speaking in french and selling french produce. At first we felt as if we were in a time warp as we had been discussing a visit to France.

The room was great - on the first level on a corner with windows on two sides looking over the mown lawns. Good size with a good bathroom.

Looking out the window one evening in June a couple of four wheel drive vehicles drove onto the grassed area below the Chase - the hill that gives the Hotel its name. Before I could work out what was happening, 2 hot air ballons were unpacked which once inflated drifted off into the evening sun.

The restaurant was good with well prepared but conservative dishes. The bar opening onto the lawns was very convivial.

All in all, I would return.
