Just back from a superb week spent at The Chase Hotel in Ross on Wye. My wife her mother and I booked this hotel in February on a Special Leaisure Break. We asked for rooms next to each other as my mother in law is in her eighties and prefers to have us close by. The Initial greeting was great and the receptionist confirmed the booking just as we ordered. the rooms were well laid out, clean tidy with fluffy towels. The beds were well prepared, tea making facilities
included plenty of coffee, hot chocolate, tea 7 biscuits, The outlook was also very good. The dinner menu included many dishes and although a bit on the slow side was well prepared. The staff were all polite and eager to please. We had day trips out and always looked forward to returning to the hotel for rest and relaxation before dinner. The only criticism was the fact that the hotel did not have lifts. We will certainly be recommending the hotel to our friends.

Room Tip: We had rooms 10 & 12 on the second floor comfortable & quiet with a great outlook. it also g...

Originally disappointed as the room we were given was very small, the second room was better although the rooms are rather dated. The remainder of the hotel is surrounded by beautiful grounds and is in walking distance of Ross on Wye.
Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

Excellent location, easily accessed from A40 without the need to drive through Ross on Wye's tiny streets, but right on the edge of the town centre with everything only a short walk away. Ample parking in spacious grounds. Attractive, historic building with impressive tiled entrance hall and lovely public areas. Very pleasant and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with some really nice touches. Friendly staff. It was a pleasure to stay here and I would give this hotel a maximum rating if its wi-fi was free - a bit outdated to charge for this.

Our great niece had her wedding reception at The Chase last Saturday. We did not need to stay the night as we live within an hours' drive. However, we were so impressed with the professionalism of all of the staff who helped to make this such a memorable event and felt compelled to write this review in case others are thinking of choosing this venue for their wedding. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and we were blessed with a lovely sunny day. The grounds are very well kept and the terrace and lawns provided an ideal setting for guests to sit and relax whilst the photos were being taken. There were over 130 guests and the staff moved unobtrusively amongst us serving the canapés. Once inside, it was easy to find our table from the well-displayed table planner and, despite the large number of guests, we could move comfortably around the room. The food for the 3 course meal was well presented and served by friendly, well-trained waiters and waitresses. The maître de managed the whole event with a quiet efficiency. We didn't stay for the "evening do" but would like to congratulate The Chase and all of its staff for great wedding organisation!

This hotel is so friendly with beautiful surroundings. Afternoon tea was really lovley and the service was first class. The restaurant looks amazing, need to try that when we return, and the nearby town is so nice. Well worth a visit

We've just returned from a 2 night Easter weekend break at this hotel and what a lovely relaxing couple of days it was...The hotel is very well situated in it's own grounds within a 2 minute stroll of the town centre. Right from the word go we received a very warm welcome and our room, whilst not being particularly spacious, was nonetheless very clean and comfortable. The hotel has a very light and comfortable lounge area and their restaurant (Harry's) offers both a varied and well priced menu. As several people have mentioned the downside is the lack of a lift which, for anyone with mobility issues, would present a problem. I was also disappointed to see a charge of £5 per day being made for anyone wishing to have Wi-Fi access - not really what you expect in this day and age. These points aside, however, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we were to return to the beautiful Wye Valley area then we'd definitely consider staying here again. Finally - a special mention to all the staff who were simply excellent. Overall it was very good value for money and a very pleasant visit.....

Room Tip: Would have tried to get a room with a front facing view but for a couple of nights it didn't mak...

Parking - easy, plenty of spaces. Check in - Fast & friendly at 4pm. Bar - Good, local beer & good choice of wine. Supper - Excellent! Good service & lovely food. We were on a DBB deal via Classic British Hotels at £99 with a £25 allowance each for food. The souffle & goat cheese starter, followed by lamb and the venison (with choc sauce!?!) mains - all highly recommended. Room - the classic room was compact but comforable with a nice view across to the lake and then the mountains beyond. Clean, but there was a little noise from the corridor. Breakfast - Really, really good selection of fruit, cereal & juice, followed by full english or selection of. Check out - 11am, so plenty of time for a walk around Ross. Efficient check out with friendly, interested enquiry about our stay. Mix that in with a stomp in the beautiful Symonds Yat, job's a good'n!
