“An Excellent Choice”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We went for the first time to Glewstone Court for dinner with two friends who were visiting us. It was most definitely an excellent choice. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown into an attractive and very confortable large bar/lounge. We were given amuse-bouches and chose from the menu.

The restaurant was another delightful large and airy room with a high ceilling. I had HOME MADE SOUP OF THE DAY, followed by PAN ROASTED RUMP OF PEMBROKESHIRE LAMB and their SIGNATURE DECONSTRUCTED BANOFFEE PIE which is a Banana mousse, toffee parfait rolled in own biscuits, bitter chocolate shard, vanilla bean cream, milk chocolate sauce. I would thoroughly recommend these choices, but others had different dishes - we all thought that the food was delicious.

The service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was splendid. We will certainly return to this restaurant and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

“What a find !”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

A warm welcome greeted us followed by a relaxed drink in a comfortable lounge with gorgeous nibbles whilst pouring over a lovely menu of locally produced food. the food didn't disappoint, cooked to perfection and exactly as requested with great service and a lovely family feel to the point that as we retired back to the lounge for coffee, the other diners happily chatted and finished off the evening perfectly.

“A relaxing evening with friends”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

We took guests to Glewstone for dinner, this is a really comfortable country house hotel, deep settees, log fires, and very good food. Our friends, two of whom live in France, were very impressed with the food as this hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly and we had a superb evening. The lamb was exceptionally good, cooked as each individual had asked, one of our guests said he had never tasted lamb that good!! I can recommend this hotel, you will enjoy the ambience and food

“The Great British Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We arrived early and set up camp in front of the fire with the Sunday papers, a bottle of wine and a plate of delicious crudite - excellent - just what a great British Sunday should be! There was no attempt to rush us despite the fact that they were about to become very busy, menus were left for us to consider at our leisure.

We moved to the dining room, an elegant room with views over the front lawn, where I started with avacado and blush pear with a blue cheese dressing - simply gorgeous, my partner had the chicken liver pate and onion chutney with which he was also very pleased. His roast beef was pink and came with a Yorkshire pudding and all the timmings - I had pork with crackling, caremalised apples and 'to die for' gravy - all yummy. The dish of veg, that we shared, was also tasty and beautifully cooked though we could have done with more (which I am sure would have been provided had we asked). My partner enjoyed his bread and butter pudding whilst I downed a delicious rhubarb creme brulee to finish. With a modest bottle of wine the bill was £60 excluding the gratuity, which the first class service justly deserved. It was not our first trip to Glewstone and certainly won't be our last. The lovely old house has a wonderfully relaxed country house feel, Bill is a joyously eccentric host, the food is very good, the welcome is warm and friendly and the staff cheerful and super efficient. What more could you want?
