“Lovely lunch lovely place”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

We stopped by for Sunday lunch recently on our way to the Three Choirs Vineyard (about 10 miles away) We ahd read good reveiws about the food at Glewstone....and were not disapponted.
Its a beautiful building standing in its own grounds. We had a warm welcome from the small family dog and were then greeted by a freindly membr of stafff who took our coats and offered a drink. It was a bit like going to dinner with family. We were early so it was quiet but as lunch time progressed soon became full - so I would say booking is essential.
We sat by a lovely log fire for a drink whilst being shown the menu....and were then taken through to the dining room.
Food - good amount of choice and reaonably priced but the quality was EXCELLENT - very home cooked and fresh. I had the beef and my husband the lamb and we both agreed it was succulent and plenty of it. My only slight criticism (very minor) was when it came to the desserts - I asked if they were home made as there was a particular favourite of mine that I have found to be not brilliant if its mass produced or bought in. I was told all desserts were freshly prepared...so I wrongly (as I found out) took that to mean home made - which it wasnt.
Overall we had a really nice experience and a definite for return.....oh and they welcome dogs (restaurant excl.) which is a real bonus for a dog owner.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your recent Sunday lunch here; this is undoubtedly a very British tradition and as you remarked a busy time for us. We take great care in offering great, freshly prepared food so we are perplexed at your comment about your pudding- all our food is made here, barring the fabulous ice-cream which is made by Just Rachel's at Ledbury and acknowledged as such on the menu.
We do hope to welcome you back soon. Thank you

My husband and I have just returned to Australia after our recent wedding celebrations in Glewstone Court. We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful place and thank you so much for all of your efforts in making our party a complete success from beginning to end. The atmosphere, staff, food, location (and pets!) helped make many warm memories and we would recommend Glewstone Court to anyone lucky enough to stumble upon it as an option. Thank you again, we hope to be back again someday.

We really enjoyed hosting your recent wedding; it is often difficult to give these occasions the special touch- especially when organising them long- distance, but judging from all the compliments we have received from your party we seem to have done well. It was an honour to be part of such a special occasion, Thank you.

I stayed here prior to a local business meeting the following day. This is a lovely hotel with a great atmosphere where the owner and his wife clearly care about their house and their customers. My room was clean and tidy and everything worked, the bed was comfortable and despite facing the local road, only one vehicle passed by throughout the night! The sitting room has lovely comfortable armchairs and the food at dinner was delicious (despite the fact that there was a full house on a Tuesday night) and was better than that at many so-called upmarket restaurants. This is a very very good comfortable hotel which is properly run and has a lovely view out over the Cherry orchard. Outstanding! Well done! it is a pleasure to be in a position to write a review like this.

From the moment I entered the hotel to leaving the following morning I was very much made to feel welcome. Bill the owner was great and the rest of the staff very friendly and helpful. The evening meal comprised one if the best steaks I have eaten and credit goes to the team for sourcing local and seasonal produce. The wine list was carefully chosen and I would really like to come back for one of the wine tasting evenings with my wife. Finally, the cooked breakfast did not disappoint. Hopefully be back soon!

Thank you so much for posting such a great review; the comments that you made regarding the sourcing of the seasonal produce that we serve were much appreciated- not only is it simply the best but we do like to promote and help our local farmers and suppliers. Thank you

Stayed for two days to "repeat" a wedding celebration of a cousin who is in Australia.
Two days of pampered permanence: good for families and for anyone wanting to get away from it all.
Both formal and down to earth (we had a black tie evening). It's family run so it is flexible on anything and is super fast in responding to requests.
Having tow kids and attending the black tie event, meant we needed baby sitting (for peace of mind, more than anything else, as the rooms are on top of the common rooms): we had a wonderful baby sitter set up by the owners.
Good food, good drinks. Comfortable and easily warmed up rooms.

We so enjoyed your families wedding celebration; to be part of such a happy occasion makes up for the odd, less convivial guest. Your review makes mention of good food, service and pampering. Thank you

Nice place and staff were fine but food seemed like it had been reheated, grey fish with no zing and gravy for the chicken dish had a skin that wrinkled on the plate. No more to say but tripadvisor insists my review should be 200 characters. Oh yes and don't believe the 5 star reviews.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review; we are glad that you found our Hotel and Staff good. It is irritating as a Hotelier to read of problems when none have been mentioned at the time despite checking each table during service. Your comment regarding our chef was hurtful to say the least; Vicki, our head chef is the best we have had in 27 years with many and varied compliments from our guests; in addition we find your veiled accusation regarding other trip advisor reviewers most strange. Thank you

Just got back from 2 nights at this lovely place using Secret Escapes for the booking. Perfect from beginning to end. Our room looked out over the garden and the bed was very comfortable. We had dinner both nights and luckily the specials changed so we had new options the second night. I was a little nervous of staying in a dog friendly hotel as I'm allergic to dogs but I had no problems. In fact the owner's dogs pottering round the public rooms added to the illusion we were staying with family friends. A very relaxing time and we'll be back to explore more of the area.
