We stayed in Peregrine Cottage with 4 of our friends, and 2 dogs.

The accommodation is extremely well equipped, with a kitchen, utility room, downstairs shower room, lounge/diner, 3 double bedrooms with separate bathroom. All the modern appliances were provided including a washing machine. They have even supplied 2 dog beds!

There are 2 log burning stoves and a plentiful supply of logs, along with the recently installed central heating system.

If you enjoy walking along the river then you won't find a better place to stay. There are flat circular walks for those who don't want to be challenged, and also challenging walks for those that do. Symonds Yat is a must, you can drive or walk from the cottages.

There are plenty of pubs/restaurants near by with very reasonable prices - and the portions are huge. We went to the Mill Race twice as it was so good - recent Gastro Pub winner. The service was excellent and the food fabulous.

We stayed in the Malthouse at the end of January. This cottage has been recently refurbished and the rest are currently undergoing refurbishment. The refurbishment has been done to a high standard and we were very pleased. The kitchen is very well equipped and the cottage is tastefully decorated.

Logs and kindling are supplied for the woodburning stove in the lounge which adds a lovely cosy feel to the centrally heated cottage.

Both the double bedroom and twin bedroom are a reasonable size and both are en-suite.

The cottages are accessed from the main road down a farm track which at the time we visited was rather muddy. If you were planning on going out in the evening when the evenings are dark, it would be recommended to drive or get a taxi as the drive is unlit and about a quarter of a mile to the road. Whilst it was winter when we visited I would imagine that walking from the property in the summer would be lovely.

We visited the Saracens Head Inn at Symonds Yat, about a 5 minute drive in the car. The pub was nice with a welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant looked nice, albeit quite expensive but we only had a drink there. Symonds Yat is a lovely place though and we would like to visit again and in the summer this would be easily accessible on foot from the cottage.

This is a lovely peaceful area, ideal for walking and we wouldn't hesitate to visit again and stay at Mainoaks Cottages.
