“Wonderful Farmhouse”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

This was a delightful place to stay. Hillary and Robert were marvelous hosts in their home built in 1856. The Bedroom and Ensuite were very well appointed and the facilities of tea and coffee etc. were excellent. The Rooms had remarkable views and the service was fantastic. The help received from Hillary regarding what to see and where to go was excellent. We went all the way to Lands End and back to Beera via Penzance, Mouse Hole, Port Isaac and Tintagel. We also stopped off on the Jamaica in. All of this could be accomplished in one day so the famhouse is well situated for loads of sites including Tavistock and Launceston. Our stay was comfortable and too short.

Room Tip: We had the bedroom with the 4 Post Bed which overlooked the farm and the valley. Very picturesque.

I spent last weekend at Beera Farmhouse near Milton Abbot, Devon and it was delightful. When we arrived I was pleased to see how rural the setting was, in amongst the rolling green hills of Devonshire, surrounded by farmland and forest. Despite being out in the wilds, there's a surprising amount to do in the vicinity: National Trust houses, Tavistock, Dartmoor, hiking and Plymouth only a half hour drive. Our room at the farmhouse was spacious, clean and the four-poster bed was large and comfortable. Things got even better in the morning when I was presented with one of the best 'full English breakfasts' I've had (and I've had a few). I had kippers on the second morning which were also excellent. The farmhouse also had a large, comfortable sitting room; clean, modern en-suite bathrooms; and prices that'll make you smile. My wife and I really enjoyed out stay and would recommend it to anyone down in Devon for walks in the Dartmoor area/weddings/tourism.

Room Tip: All rooms have en-suite but request a four-poster for a really comfy night

Another wonderful stay for us at Beera. Hilary and Robert are great hosts and everything is of such a high standard. We stayed in a 4-star hotel straight afterwards and my partner's comment on the breakfast there was, "Not a patch on Hilary's" - which it wasn't!

We always feel so chilled out and at peace with the world at Beera. It was lovely to see the new lambs and the gorgeous calf called Harry Hill! Sitting outside on a warm spring day, watching buzzards swoop across the sky, was truly idyllic.

My husband and I stayed 2nd week in May at this homely and well appointed farmhouse.Hilary and Robert were perfect hosts, thoughtful and friendly. Our room overlooked the magnificent Devon countryside and our every comfort was catered for. The room was beautifully decorated,co-ordinated and tasteful, with a wonderfully confortable 6' wide bed! We would have no hesitation in recommending Beera Farmhouse to other guests. The cream tea we had on arrival was splendid, hopefully one day we will stay again and see the places we didn't have time to visit.

This is a truly excellent family-run b&b situated in the beautiful Tamar Valley countryside. We have stayed there twice now, both times in the springtime, when the view from our room centred on fields of newly born lambs and across a picturesque valley in the distance. We also found it conveniently situated for short drives to Tavistock, Dartmoor and various other locations.

We were welcomed by a yummy cream tea and a warmness from our hosts - Hilary and Robert - which characterised our whole stay. Our room (which was the four poster room) was spacious and attractive, with all the facilities one might want and some lovely attention to detail - including, for example, a bowl of fruit and a packet of excellent fudge.

The food at Beera is always excellent too, with a range of breakfast options, including both traditional and vegetarian cooked breakfasts. Hilary's excellent cooking also extends to evening meals, which are available on certain days by prior arrangement and which we would strongly recommend - really high quality food both for meat eaters and vegetarians.

We have thoroughly enjoyed both our stays at Beera Farm and hope to return again sometime soon.

Service was excellent. Nothing wasoverlooked. The accommodation was first class and the room delightful. This is a perfect location to explore West Devon, East Cornwall and the World Heritage Site. The local pub is well placed for evening meals.

We stayed at Beera for 5 nights and were not dissapointed. The room was comfortable, and clean with everything you would expect from a 4 star B&B plus a bit more - fluffy bathrobes and complementary fudge. The cream tea on arrival was delicious and most welcome after the long journey. Hilary is an excellent cook and i would thoroughly recommend booking an evening meal during your stay at Beera. There was a good selection of food for breakfast - from home made fresh fruit salad to the full english. The guest lounge has a wide selection of maps and books covering Devon and Cornwall, which came in very handy !
If you are looking for a peacefully setting (apart from the occasional bleating of the sheep), comfortable accommodation, good food and friendly hosts then look no further than Beera.
